Why the World Won't End in 2012

By Stuart Wilde

The Mayans were a black magic blood cult that practised human sacrifice, like the Romans that sacrificed 100,000 people a year in the Colosseum.

The Mayans were a very cruel people that got power and pleasure from torture… their kings existed on the slave labor of thousands upon thousands of the indigenous people they captured. Most have never heard of this aspect of the Mayans.

If the Nazis had had a calendar, which say predicted the end of the world on Hitler's birthday 20 April in 2022... people would ridicule it, but the Mayans were just as fascist as Hitler if not more so, and they were much less evolved than the Germans of the 1930s.

The idea that this rinky dink civilization with their vile sacrificial rituals could predict the end of the world is beyond silly.

The World's Greatest Goal Achiever

One rainy afternoon an inspired 15-year old boy named John Goddard sat down at his kitchen table in Los Angeles and wrote three words at the top of a yellow pad, “My Life List.” Under that heading he wrote down 127 goals.

These were not simple or easy goals. They included climbing the world’s major mountains, exploring from source to mouth the longest rivers of the world, piloting the world’s fastest aircraft, running a mile in five minutes and reading the entire Encyclopedia Britannica.

Now, a generation later, he has accomplished 109 of these quests, and has logged an impressive list of records in achieving them.

Have You Been Brainwashed to Be Broke?

By Ilya Alexi, Author of
Mind Over Money: How to Program Your Mind for Wealth

Think about your life for a moment. Are you exactly where you want to be? Are you doing work that you love? Are you free to travel when and where you wish? Are your relationships fulfilling? Are you financially free or are you tied to a job you hate?

Now answer this question for me: Do you want to know exactly why you are not living a life of ease, comfort, and happiness? Yes, of course you do. Pay close attention:

"The only reason you are not living the life of your dreams is because unconstructive beliefs were programmed into your mind as a child."

Let me say it in a way that might be easier to understand:

"The only reason you don't have enough money is because you still believe the bullshit they taught you as a kid."

That's it... When you were young, you learned certain "facts" about life that became a part of your subconscious operating system. This system now automatically creates the life you are living. If you are not living exactly the life that you desire, then these beliefs need to be changed... it's as simple as that.

The Power of Brainwashing in North Korea

Thomas Lifson / Source: American Thinker

Amazing as it seems to Americans, there is actual grief, with spontaneous tears flowing for Kim Jong-il, late dictator of North Korea.

Absolute tyrannies which create a cult of personality around the leader are capable of brainwashing their populace to such a degree. Stalin, after all, is still recalled nostalgically by some elderly Russians, and his death caused an outpouring of genuine grief, too. With media and social control, mind control can follow, so that people sincerely mourn monsters.

It is a sobering lesson for political realists who live in a media environment aligned with a "god-like" leader seeking additional sway over the fate of the nation.

The Psychedelic Secrets of Santa Claus

By Dana Larsen / Source: Cannabis Culture

Although most people see Christmas as a Christian holiday, many of the symbols and icons we associate with Christmas celebrations are actually derived from the shamanistic traditions of the tribal peoples of pre-Christian Northern Europe.

The sacred mushroom of these people was the red and white amanita muscaria mushroom, also known as "fly agaric." These mushrooms are now commonly seen in books of fairy tales, and are usually associated with magic and fairies. This is because they contain potent hallucinogenic compounds, and were used by ancient peoples for insight and transcendental experiences.

Most of the major elements of the modern Christmas celebration, such as Santa Claus, Christmas trees, magical reindeer and the giving of gifts, are originally based upon the traditions surrounding the harvest and consumption of these most sacred mushrooms.

Matrix-style Downloading Coming to a Brain Near You

By Ted Thornhill / Source: Daily Mail

Learning a martial art, how to fly a plane or how to speak a new language without even being awake is set to become a reality, say researchers.

Scientists at Boston University and ATR Computational Neuroscience Laboratories in Kyoto, Japan, believe that in the future learning a new skill might involve nothing more than sitting in front of a computer screen and waiting for it to ‘upload’.

They have been studying how a functional magnetic resonance machine (FMRI) can ‘induce’ knowledge in someone through their visual cortex by sending signals that change their brain activity pattern.

Five Simple Ways to Trick Your Mind Into Attracting Wealth

By Ilya Alexi, Author of
Mind Over Money: How to Program Your Mind for Wealth

Learning how to use mind power, and learning specifically how to use mind power to attract wealth and abundance has been a major focus for most of my life. Along the way, I've learned that using mind power works most effectively when it is done with ease and grace. You don't have to struggle to get exactly what you want in life. In fact, whenever you struggle, you push away that which you most desire.

Using mind power to change your life is more like a magic trick than anything else. You simply trick your mind into believing that you have what you want, and then your life miraculously changes to reflect your new belief. And just like a magic trick, it seems impossible until you learn the trick, and then you realize it is actually very simple.

Yes, I said very simple. The five steps which follow are designed for the complete beginner. You can start today, right now, to attract more prosperity in your life. Here are five ways to start immediately.

How I Beat Slot Machines With My Dreams

By Randall Fitzgerald / Author of Lucky You!

My natural journalistic skepticism used to be so rigidly enforced that what I am about to tell you would previously have been treated by me as laughable. An unusual event loosened my straitjacket of doubt about what is possible in life. It presented a jaw-dropping challenge to all of my comforting notions about the boundaries of our consensus reality.

A mystery man named Andy, who I met in Las Vegas, claimed to have perfected an intuitive money-making technique using his dreams. After I watched him in action at gaming tables, I was intrigued enough by his success that I decided to test a version of his method.

For six nights straight, as I drifted off to sleep, I mentally repeated to myself, over and over, these words: “Please give me a precognitive dream about winning money or making money...” This mantra, or wish, or prayer, was directed at programming my own unconscious mind.

To even begin this process, I had to suspend my agnosticism and disbelief. I had to drop any pretense of knowing anything about how the ‘laws’ of causality and probability theory work. Instead, I tried to keep myself open and accepting of whatever images and feelings might surface, no matter how ridiculous my rational mind judged them to be.

The Future Starts in 2020

By Thomas Lin and Jonathan Huang / Source: NY Times

Far enough in the distance to dream, yet seemingly within arm’s reach, that year was attached to more predictions of technological innovations from readers than any other in the interactive, crowd-sourced timeline published online with “The Future of Computing,” last week’s special issue of Science Times.

Holographic displays. Robotic restaurants. Computers that replace doctors, translators and drivers. If it’s proximate science fiction you want, you’ll have it, it seems, at the end of the decade.

Looking at 2020 and beyond, readers imagined a future with cures for intractable diseases, direct links between brain and computer, automated everything, contact with alien life forms, sentient machines and no language barriers.

How to Develop Your Child's Powerful Intuitive Abilities

By Elly Molina, Author of Annabelle and the Domino
Source: BeyondTheCrescentMoon.com

The first time I read Robert A. Heinlein’s “Stranger in a Strange Land” there was a lot  I didn’t quite “grok”; yet something in me whispered, “This is not science fiction”.

Heinlein’s main character,  Valentine Michael Smith, is the son of the first astronauts who explore planet Mars. Smith is an orphaned human raised in Martian culture who learns how to have full control over his mind and body. Through circumstances, the protagonist  finds himself on Earth.  He is attacked by US government agents and in self defense sends the agents into a fourth dimension.

During the course of the novel , he continues to demonstrate psychic abilities, superhuman intelligence and psychokinetic abilities.  While reading, I continuously thought this is do able and wondered how can we learn to do this?

Over the years I have developed  a strong belief that we humans once knew how to do this and lost the ability through some sort of “dark age” in our psychic  development.  I started to look at how we are taught to speak,  walk,  how and what to eat and came to the belief that our way distant ancestors actually knew how to and used their  intuitive, telepathic and telekinetic abilites.

10 Things You Don't Know About Time

Source: Discover Magazine

“Time” is the most used noun in the English language, yet it remains a mystery. We’ve just completed an amazingly intense and rewarding multidisciplinary conference on the nature of time, and my brain is swimming with ideas and new questions. Rather than trying a summary (the talks will be online soon), here’s my stab at a top ten list partly inspired by our discussions: the things everyone should know about time.

1. Time exists. Might as well get this common question out of the way. Of course time exists — otherwise how would we set our alarm clocks? Time organizes the universe into an ordered series of moments, and thank goodness; what a mess it would be if reality were complete different from moment to moment. The real question is whether or not time is fundamental, or perhaps emergent. We used to think that “temperature” was a basic category of nature, but now we know it emerges from the motion of atoms. When it comes to whether time is fundamental, the answer is: nobody knows. My bet is “yes,” but we’ll need to understand quantum gravity much better before we can say for sure.

5 Ways to Persuade Anyone to Do Whatever You Want

By Michael Lee
Author of How to Be an Expert Persuader

Having good persuasion skills has become a necessity in today's fast-paced world. A large part of your success depends on the cooperation of other people. Influencing them to your way of thinking is now a very essential step in the fulfillment of your goals.

Here are 5 simple yet effective persuasion tactics you may use everyday to build loyal and lasting relationships through the power of persuasion and influence.

Tactic # 1: You Must Enter Their World.
Copy them. Observe how they act, how they speak, and how they think. If they rub their forehead while they think, act like them. If they speak at a clear and slow pace, try to do the same thing. This is called mirroring. In due time, the people you're mirroring will subconsciously feel more comfortable with you. It's as if they see themselves in you. However, you must proceed with caution. Do not let them be aware that you are copying them. They might interpret it as mockery and you'll just get into trouble.

Tactic # 2: Meet Their Existing Needs and Desires.

People are self-centered. They are initially concerned with their own well-being before others. If you can prove that your proposal will provide more advantageous benefits to them than to your own, then they will probably accept it. If you could focus more on their interests, desires, needs, and expectations, then you would satisfy their cravings for attention. Moreover, it would show that you really care about them. Mutual trust and respect would be established. Satisfy the "What's In It For Me?" test first, before convincing others to do what you want them to do.

New Reality Creation Software Merges Science & Spirituality

By Tom Murasso, Creator of The Sourxe

I recently read where scientists discovered one tiny atom's behavior replicates the entire universe. Incredible!

Each atom – there are billions upon billions of them – creates alternative universes, time lines, and parallel realities where duplicates of you and me (and everyone else) are living simultaneous, yet... different lives.

And that's the keyword... 'different' lives!

Hey, most of us dream, at one point or another, that our lives were different. Right?

And you can see why this discovery explains why some people are successful and some are not. Some are rich or poor. Why some enjoy health and some are sick. Why some have great relationships, etc., etc. They were able to access a different reality!

Apparently, where we place our focus has everything to do with it. So, how exactly do you focus on an alternative universes and parallel realities? I sure can't remember anyone teaching me that in school...

Well the good news is, someone HAS discovered a way to jump the time lines into parallel realities...

Here's a short video explaining everything...

The Army Fights Nightmares with Power Dreaming

By Dawn Lim  / Source: Wired

A soldier tries to sleep. But he is not safe in his dreams. Jolted awake by a nightmare, the combat veteran fumbles in the dark for his 3-D glasses.

He puts them on. Around him are the faces of people whom he trusts. They fight the darkness with him.
The soldier’s re-lived this scene in his head and the laboratory over and over again, until it has become reassuringly familiar. The soldier knows that his pixelated friends will take him away from these troubled dreams. When the scene is over, he takes off his goggles and looks around him. The soldier is home.

The U.S. Army wants this dream sequence to become reality. In an Army-backed experiment called “Power Dreaming,” Naval Hospital Bremerton in Washington State will help traumatized troops battle their nightmares — with soothing, digitally-made dreams crafted in virtual worlds. No, this is not the script for the sequel to Inception.

Can Magic Mushrooms Improve Your Life?

By Elizabeth Lopatto / Source: Bloomberg

Psilocybin, or “magic mushrooms,” can make people more open in their feelings and aesthetic sensibilities, conferring on them a lasting personality change, according to a study by Johns Hopkins researchers.

People who had mystic experiences while taking the mushrooms were more likely to show increases in a personality trait dubbed “openness,” which is related to creativity, artistic appreciation and curiosity, according to the study in the Journal of Psychopharmacology. The change was still in place a year later, suggesting a long-term effect.

“The remarkable piece is that psilocybin can facilitate experiences that change how people perceive themselves and their environment,” said Roland Griffiths, a study author and professor of psychiatry and behavioral science at Johns Hopkins University of Medicine in Baltimore. “That’s unprecedented.”

The Hypnotic Power of Confusion

By Joe Vitale / Source: The Code of Influence

"Did you walk to work or carry a lunch?"

Huh? My father asked me that question more than 25 years ago. I still remember it. Why? Because it's a ridiculous question.

A famous comedian in the 1950s used to ask people, "Got a banana?" The question might make sense if asked in the right situation, but he asked it everywhere. I've forgotten the name of the comedian, but I still recall his question. Why? Because it's strange.

As I write this, I am creating new business cards for myself. I decided to add a confusing line to it. After some fun brainstorming with my girlfriend, I settled on, "Ask me about the monkey."

Why is "Ask me about the monkey?" worth putting on my business card? As with my father's question and the comedian's question, it stops your brain in its tracks. It makes you pause. It makes you focus on ME. The theory is that once you stop someone with a confusing line, you can then implant a hypnotic command right after it.

Stephen King's Rules for Time Travel

By Sarah Fallon / Source: Wired

If you’re going to travel back in time, author Stephen King says, preparation is everything. The further back you go, the more you have to think about.

And if you’re going to try and undo a watershed event in history—the assassination of JFK, say—you had better be determined. Because the past will do its best to remain unchanged.

That’s the premise of King’s latest novel, 11/22/63, which follows Jake Epping as he slips back through time to stop Lee Harvey Oswald from pulling the trigger. To get the details right, King talked to experts about the events leading up to Kennedy’s death, and he consulted with heavyweight historians like Doris Kearns Goodwin on what might have happened had JFK lived.

Wired spoke with King about the mechanics of time travel, the grandfather paradox, and the scariest thing about trying to change history.

Dogs Can Smell Cancer

By Jenny Stocks / Source: Daily Mail

Daisy the labrador is hard at work on a project that could change your life and mine.

In her smart red jacket, she wanders around a metal carousel in a small centre outside Milton Keynes, sniffing at the different scents that are attached to its 12 spokes. Then she stops.

She’s found what she’s looking for and looks expectantly up at her handler — she knows that when she recognises this specific smell, she will soon get an edible reward.

While Daisy enjoys the process (and her dog biscuits) her actions are more than just a game — they have huge implications for all of us.

Because what this seven-year-old dog is sniffing is a selection of samples from a local hospital. And she has just located the only one that came from a cancer patient.

Daisy, quite simply, is being taught to sniff out cancer. She is one of the world’s first bio-detection dogs — trained animals that may one day revolutionise medical diagnosis.

Killer Solar Flare Won't Destroy Earth in 2012, NASA Says

By Mike Wall / Source: Space.com

If the world ends in 2012, the sun won't be to blame, NASA officials say.

Contrary to what some doomsayers would have you believe, our star isn't capable of blasting out a solar flare powerful enough to burn our planet to a crisp, according to the space agency.

"Most importantly, however, there simply isn't enough energy in the sun to send a killer fireball 93 million miles to destroy Earth," NASA officials wrote in a Nov. 10 statement.

The Mayans' "long-count" calendar is set to expire on Dec. 21, 2012, marking the end of a 5,126-year epoch. This factoid has inspired some folks to start girding up for the coming apocalypse — and to start predicting what may bring it about.

One popular theory is that a huge solar flare could do the Earth in. Some fearmongers have pointed out that the sun's activity is ramping up, implying that a killer outburst could be coming next year.

The sun is indeed building up toward the peak of its 11-year activity cycle. But that peak is expected to come in 2013 or 2014, not 2012, researchers said. Also, countless solar maxima have come and gone over the years, and we — and the Earth — are still here.

The Many Scientific Benefits of Gratitude

Drs. Blair and Rita Justice / Source: Health Leader

If you start practicing now, you could be grateful by Thanksgiving. Not only that, your marriage could improve, you might be exercising more, feel less depressed, sleep better, have a healthier heart, more life satisfaction, and increase your chances of living longer.

This may sound like a late-night ad that comes with a free set of steak knives (...and that’s not all!), but a growing body of research shows that gratitude is truly amazing in its physical and psychosocial benefits. The benefits are so great, in fact, that it’s a wonder “gratitude gyms” aren’t already being franchised.

Robert A. Emmons, PhD, professor of psychology at University of California, Davis, pioneer in the research on gratitude and one of the leading scholars in positive psychology, is author of Thanks: How the New Science of Gratitude Can Make You Happier. What makes gratitude the “magic ingredient” is that it takes us outside ourselves so that we can see how we are part of the larger, intricate network of sustaining relationships -- relationships that are reciprocal.

5 Sleep Commands that Induce Lucid Dreams

By Nick Newport / Source: Lucidology.com

Here in Lucidology 101 we'll cover five new sleep commands that you can use to quickly trick the body into falling asleep. This will enables you to end insomnia and have frequent lucid dreams and OBEs.

A while back I had been up all night working on something. Around noon I was very tired and decided to lay down for a few moments. As I lay there I began to feel a very uncomfortable urge to roll over. For no real reason I decided to ignore it and just lay there. To my extreme surprise I felt the paralysis wave roll over me and put me in full sleep paralysis.

The paralysis was completely unexpected. I had always thought it was something you had to be very deeply relaxed to achieve. Instead I was actually fairly tense and my mind was not at all in any kind of meditative state.

I'd accidentally found something that I had never seen in any books on lucid dreaming. The roll over signal itself was all you need to enter paralysis. I spent the next several months experimenting with different variations of what I'd done. I began looking for other ways to command the body into sleep and here's what I found.

How to Boost Your Willpower

By Jacqueline Nelson / Source: Canadian Business

The first daily test of one’s willpower begins with the loathsome tone of the alarm clock: to resist pressing the snooze button. Then, on the way to work the mind fights giving reckless commuters the finger or stopping for a sugary latte. Before any real work begins, the tank of self-control that was full at the beginning of the day has already been partially depleted.

Unfortunately, the human ability to self-regulate is limited. The more tired the mind becomes by resisting its impulses throughout the day, the stronger the likelihood of caving to feelings of temptation, which trigger pleasure centres in the brain.

In Willpower: Rediscovering the Greatest Human Strength (Penguin), co-authors Roy F. Baumeister and John Marion Tierney offer both practical tips on beating the most common daily tests of self-control, as well as scientific insight into why humans react to impulses the way they do.

Our willpower is rooted in our desire to “avoid public disgrace rather than by any zeal to achieve human perfection,” the authors say. They trace the history of self-control through the past century, pausing to reflect on the strong-willed Victorians and the impulsive hippies.

Don't Tell Your Goals to Anyone

By Bethany Heitman / Source: SF Gate

It's a commonly held belief that whenever you set a new goal for yourself - whether it's scoring your ideal job, writing a screenplay, or yogacizing your bod down a size or two - you should broadcast it to everyone you know. After all, the more people you tell, the more likely you'll do it because you don't want to be thought of as a failure, right?

Wrong. New research shows the opposite is true. A study conducted at New York University found that blabbing about your goal can give you a false sense of accomplishment, making you less likely to actually go after it.

Here's an example: Imagine you tell a friend that you want to train to be a long-distance runner. Your bud has a "Oh, wow, that's great!" reaction, and you get a jolt of satisfaction and pride. You feel so satisfied, in fact, that you lose motivation to get up early and jog. Why should you, when you're already reaping the benefits of being known as a runner?

The smarter strategy: Don't tell a soul. Of course, that's easier said than done. Keep reading for more reasons to stay mum, plus tips for achieving your dream on the down-low.

The End of Evil?

By Ron Rosenbaum / Source: Slate

Is evil over? Has science finally driven a stake through its dark heart? Or at least emptied the word of useful meaning, reduced the notion of a numinous nonmaterial malevolent force to a glitch in a tangled cluster of neurons, the brain?

Yes, according to many neuroscientists, who are emerging as the new high priests of the secrets of the psyche, explainers of human behavior in general. A phenomenon attested to by a recent torrent of pop-sci brain books with titles like Incognito: The Secret Lives of the Brain.

Not secret in most of these works is the disdain for metaphysical evil, which is regarded as an antiquated concept that's done more harm than good. They argue that the time has come to replace such metaphysical terms with physical explanations—malfunctions or malformations in the brain.

Of course, people still commit innumerable bad actions, but the idea that people make conscious decisions to hurt or harm is no longer sustainable, say the new brain scientists. For one thing, there is no such thing as "free will" with which to decide to commit evil. (Like evil, free will is an antiquated concept for most.) Autonomous, conscious decision-making itself may well be an illusion. And thus intentional evil is impossible.

Top 10 Mind Control Cults

Source: Mind Control 101

1. Scientology – Scientology has been highly controversial since its foundation by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard in 1952. It has been described as a cult by several media organizations, governments, former believers, and other religious groups. One of the main reasons is the cult’s tier system, in which practitioners must pay higher levels of money to discover more information about the religion. Scientologists also believe that souls reincarnate and have lived on other planets before earth, and they condemn the practice of psychiatry, believing that it is destructive.

2. Aum Shinrikyo – Currently known as “Aleph” (the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet), this Japanese religious group was founded by Shoko Asahara in 1984. Asahara published a book in 1992 in which he declared himself as “Christ” and outlined a doomsday prophecy where the U.S. would instigate World War III and ultimately bring destruction to humanity, apart from the select few who join Aum. In March of 1995, the group carried out a Sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway, and Asahara was arrested and sentenced to death a few months later. The group is considered a terrorist organization by several international entities. It currently has about 1,500 members.

The Hilarious, Terrifying Power of Conformity

One of the most popular scenarios in the long history of Alan Funt's ingenious Candid Camera programs is "Face The Rear." An elevator is rigged so that after an unsuspecting person enters, four Candid Camera staff enter, and one by one they all face the rear. The doors close and then reopen; now revealing that the passenger had conformed and is now also facing the rear.

Doors close and reopen, and everyone is facing sideways, and then face the other way. We laugh that these people are manipulated like puppets on invisible strings, but this scenario makes us aware of the number of situations in which we mindlessly follow the dictates of group norms and situational forces.

Dare to Ask for What You Want

By Jack Canfield / Source: Dream Manifesto

Good things come to those who ask!Asking for what you need is probably the most underutilized tool for people. And yet, amazing requests have been granted to people simply because they’ve asked for it!

Whether its money, information, support, assistance, or time, most people are afraid to ask for what they need in order to make their dreams come true.

They might be afraid of looking needy, ignorant, helpless, or even greedy. More than likely though, it is the fear of rejection that is holding them back. Even though they are afraid to hear the word no, they’re already saying it to themselves by not asking!

Do you ask for what you want or are you afraid of rejection?

Meditation Can Heal You In Less Than 11 Hours

By Stephan A. Schwartz / Source: Huffington Post

The sense of spiritual consciousness, connecting to something greater than oneself, is one of the most intoxicating realms a human can enter. Across the millennia, such experiences have shaped the lives of individuals and, upon occasion, whole cultures.

The question for science is not to deny them, but to seek to understand the processes by which they occur and the domain into which they lead us. Central to these true stories is a special state of mindfulness, what the psychologist Charles Tart described in his classic 1972 Science paper as a state of consciousness.

Although these experiences, when they happen spontaneously, are often one-time events, almost every human culture on earth has developed practices, usually in a spiritual or religious context, for attaining this state. Similarly, all the martial arts have this component of mindful discipline, a practice of focusing intentioned awareness. Collectively, we have come to call these practices meditation.

Being Enlightened Gets You Everything In Life

By Enoch Tan / Creator of Secrets of Mind and Reality

Enlightenment is about seeing through the illusions of life and knowing what reality really is.
When you are enlightened, you can have everything you want. Because you'll know the truth about what everything is, and what does it really mean to have something.

It is an irony of the world that the people who seek material things and desire to have them before
thinking about enlightenment, tend to attain neither, but those that acquire enlightenment first are the ones who do.

The desireless attain all their desires.

Being desireless is not about having no desire, but it is about having no attachment to desire.
Attachment is the cause of all suffering. Suffering is burning emotional energy on the uncontrollable. The more you suffer, the more suffering you attract.

Letting go of all attachments is the way to end all suffering.

When you are attached, you are in a state of wanting or lacking. When you are detached, you are in
a state of being desireless. Enlightenment is about knowing why detachment gets you your desire.

100 Ways To Develop Your Mind

By Steven Aitchison, Creator of Mind Alchemy

This weeks Sunday Siesta has been postponed as I have been working all weekend on this article. It’s my longest article ever at over 4500 words but I think it was worth the time and the effort.

I have been resisting doing this post for a while now. However, it kept niggling away at the back of my mind and I kept getting more and more ideas to add to it so here it is.

I was originally inspired to do this by Dragos Roua who wrote a great post 100 Ways to Live a Better Life and who was inspired by Mike King in this great post 100 Ways To Be A Better Leader who was inspired by Armen Shirvanian: 100 Ways to Show Boldness who was inspired by the maniac who started it all Luciano Passuello and his post Tackling Any Issue With A List Of 100.

So here I am with 100 Ways to Develop Your Mind

1. Do the Thing You Fear the Most. If there’s one thing that will change your thoughts quicker than anything else, it’s facing your fears.

2. Stand up For Yourself. A lot of people have difficulty in standing up for themselves. The first time you do it can be very empowering and your thoughts about yourself will change forever.

3. Stop Talking. It’s great to be silent for just a little while. Our thoughts turn inward and we begin to appreciate ourselves just a little more.

Free Gift: How to Clarify Your Vision to Build Your Dream Life

Source: The Science of Getting Rich Hypnosis

It may seem like an easy thing to ask people what they want but if you ask someone "what do you want to do? Where are you going to be this time next year?" most people don't know.

Or they have an "achievable" plan that's not really what they want.

It is true that people limit themselves by negative thoughts on what is 'realistic'. Then they don't have real enthusiasm for that plan because it's not really what they want.

To have all that you want, you need to be sure what it is you DO want? Leaving your future to chance and 'whatever happens' is giving away your power to be all that you can be.

To have your dream life you need to stop dreaming and get a clear vision of what that life is. Once you have a vision and a clear idea of what you really want, you can then make plans to achieve it. You can work towards it with a clear, focused idea of what you are heading towards.

Medical TV Shows Can Make You Feel Sick

By: S. L. Baker / Source: Natural News

According to a new study out of the University of Rhode Island (URI), watching a lot of television can be bad for your health.

And, no, this isn't more research about how being a couch potato and munching on junk food while watching the boob tube is unhealthy. Instead, this study zeroes in on the heavy dose of medical content in doctor-centered dramas like "House", "Grey's Anatomy" and "E.R.", as well as the evening news.

It turns out, according to study author Yinjiao Ye, assistant professor of communications studies at URI, TV exposure to information about health risks and diseases that are supposedly lurking around every corner can lead people to worry about their bodies and wonder whether it's even possible to protect their own health.

Can Your Brain Keep Reality and Imagination Separate?

Source: Discover Magazine

One of memory’s big jobs is to keep straight what actually happened versus what we imagined: whether we said something out loud or to ourselves, whether we locked the door behind us or just thought about locking the door.

That ability, a new study found, is linked to the presence of a small fold in the front of the brain, which some people have and others don’t—a finding that could help researchers better understand not only healthy memory, but disorders like schizophrenia in which the line between the real and the imagined is blurred.

The researchers looked at MRI brain scans of a large group of healthy adults. In particular, they were looking for the paracingulate sulcus (PCS), a fold near the front of the brain. There’s a lot of variability in the PCS: some people have quite distinctive folds, others have barely any.

It’s in a part of the brain known to be important in keeping track of reality, which is why the researchers chose to study it. Of the 53 people selected for the study, some had this fold on both sides of their brain, some had it on one side, and some had no fold.

How Exercise Builds Your Brain Power

By Dave Osh, Creator of Anti-Aging Fitness

Have you always thought that athletes were less intelligent? Well, hold on to your hat… more and more research supports the idea that the brains of exercisers function better.

This is not new. Researchers have known for years that the brains of exercisers were more active and pliable in later life. Many recent studies take this a step further.

In one such study, Charles Hillman, a professor at the University of Illinois, noticed that over and over the women in his classes that were on the cross-country team consistently scored higher on his exams. Hillman wondered about the possible fitness-brain power connection. So, he designed a study.

He and his team studied 259 third and fourth graders (8 – 11 years old). The students were measured for physical fitness levels (BMI, flexibility, cardio fitness, etc.). The fitness levels were then checked against their math and reading scores on the statewide Standardized Test.

Sure enough, the fittest kids did the best on these tests. The ones with the fittest bodies had the fittest brains, even with factors such as socioeconomic level taken into account.

The Prosperity Paradox That Keeps You Poor

By Burt Goldman, Creator of Prosperity Paradox

The longer you spend doing something, the better you will become at it. That is the Law of Life.

To become an expert at whatever it is you want to do, you know that if you put in the time and dedication, you’ll eventually get there.

After all, practice makes perfect, right?

This rings true for almost anything in life and most professionals in any field will tell you that following this Law has gotten them to where they are today.

It is the proven formula for most things... but here lies the problem... this does not apply to making money.

We spend the majority of our lives trying to make good money. Do the math -- say you have already spent 20 years dedicating the majority of your time and effort into making money. At 40 hours a week, that’s over 40,000 hours spent making money! After that much time, you should already be a master at it!

Negative Thinking for Weight Loss

Source: FatBurning Furnace

(Fair warning: - the material below is very controversial with many of our readers - I receive more strongly opinionated letters on this than any other email)

Let's face it , your physical health is as important as your mental health for your overall well-being.

But mental and physical health go hand-in-hand...this is because getting in shape is just as much, if not more, a  mental and emotional process as it a physical one.

Even if you get the physical results, you still need to makesure  that you make the changes needed in your mind and emotions so that your new behaviors stick.

You don't want to be like 95% of dieters, for example,  that gain all their weight back within a year of losing it.

The Dark Side of the Placebo Effect: When Intense Belief Kills

Source: The Atlantic

They died in their sleep one by one, thousands of miles from home. Their median age was 33. All but one -- 116 of the 117 -- were healthy men. Immigrants from southeast Asia, you could count the time most had spent on American soil in just months. At the peak of the deaths in the early 1980s, the death rate from this mysterious problem among the Hmong ethnic group was equivalent to the top five natural causes of death for other American men in their age group.

Something was killing Hmong men in their sleep, and no one could figure out what it was. There was no obvious cause of death. None of them had been sick, physically. The men weren't clustered all that tightly, geographically speaking. They were united by dislocation from Laos and a shared culture, but little else. Even House would have been stumped.

Doctors gave the problem a name, the kind that reeks of defeat, a dragon label on the edge of the known medical world: Sudden Unexpected Nocturnal Death Syndrome. SUNDS. It didn't do much in terms of diagnosis or treatment, but it was easier to track the periodic conferences dedicated to understanding the problem.

The Secret of Effortless Happiness

By Guy Finley, author of The Secret of Letting Go

Have you ever noticed just how unhappy you can get over the fact you are not happy? Unexamined, this behavior seems to make sense. But a closer look at it will reveal that being unhappy over being unhappy is like throwing gasoline on a fire to put it out. You get lots of fire and smoke -- even a strange excitement -- but in the end all you are left with is ashes. This is why you must understand this next amazing fact.

You can make yourself miserable but you can't make yourself happy.

This shouldn't be too much of a surprise as we begin to learn that we have been unconscious conspirators in our own unhappy lives. Even if it wasn't being pointed out, most of us can admit that at times we do make ourselves miserable.

But there is nothing good about feeling bad. There is never a justification for tolerating self-misery because what is self-induced can be self-reduced and ultimately eliminated if you are willing to understand the underlying causes. This is why we must look at why it is impossible to make ourselves happy if we ever want to come upon authentic happiness.

Why Women's Dreams Are Much Wilder Than Men's

By Flic Everett / Source: Daily Mail

Last night I was on a steam train, going to boarding school while, at the same time and with a growing sense of panic, I was trying to bake a loaf of bread. I knew I didn't have enough time for the loaf to rise and the stress was getting to me.

By the time I woke up from this, my most recent dream, my heart was racing and I felt breathless.
Dreams like this aren't a rare occurrence - my dreams are regularly vivid, colourful and panic-inducing. Some are one-offs while others are repeated over and over again.

I often dream I'm searching for something in an old, crumbling house, or discovering abandoned rooms in my childhood home. Occasionally, the dreams will become nightmares, featuring bereavement, murder or terrifying chases up spiral staircases.

By contrast, my husband tends to have dreams so dull he either doesn’t remember them, or recounts such gems as: ‘I was waiting to buy a new printer cartridge and the receptionist told me to take a seat.’ Thrilling stuff.

The Secret at the Heart of all your Desires

By Guy Finley, Author of The Seeker, The Search, The Sacred

I'd like to share a rescuing fact very few people ever realize...

At the heart of all our desires lies one secret wish.

It isn't to become someone special, or to achieve a social stature whose thrill quickly fades.

What we really want is much simpler than that.

What we really want is... to be.

We long to know that who and what we are has meaning, in and of itself -- no matter what. We wish to know -- intimately -- our own true Story, to share in its open- ended and infinite possibilities, not keep spending our precious time chasing dreams of fulfillment that are always ending!

Mind to Mind Combat: How to Control Your Opponent's Psyche

Source: RT.com

The founder of a Russian combat school says you do not even need to touch your enemy to defeat him. What you really need, though, is the right mental attitude.

Vadim Starov, the owner of the combat school, explains that non-contact fighting is about taking control of the opponent's psyche and giving him a false target. He claims the technique can help you overpower someone far stronger than you.

”I am in a trance, I am relaxed. I am giving the dog a bone. Look the bone is here! Now, it is here! Now, it flies away, and he follows it”, this is how the coach commentates his fighting technique, as he manages to defeat his opponents while hardly touching them.

Non-contact fighting is rumored to have been developed in secret by the Soviet Special Forces to give them an edge against their counterparts.

Creating Psychic Children

By Elly Molina, Author of Annabelle and the Domino

Teaching Children how to develop their innate psychic abilities is enjoyable, very simple and deeply rewarding.

For the past six years I've been working with children between the ages of 3 to 14 to safely explore, develop and train them in developing and enhancing their psychic abilities.

In 2007, I began my first practical hands on training program with a group of 12 to 14 year olds. This first program was designed to last three months with the students meeting weekly for two hours. By the end of the first program, the twenty students in the program were confident in their abilities to be highly intuitive and very effective creators of their own futures.

The results that the participants had were concrete and totally applicable and practical to their lives. Some received higher grades in their classes, others got early acceptance into the High School of their choices and others simply had satisfying results in their personal lives.

The 12-year-old Nostradamus of 1913

Source: Daily Mail

It was the year King George V was on the throne, the Morris Oxford two-seater car went on sale and frustrated suffragettes set fire to public property.

Against this backdrop, a 12-year-old schoolboy turned his thoughts to the future – and wrote down a list of predictions about life in the year 2000.

Edgar Codling, of Hillington, Norfolk, believed that by the turn of the century, aeroplanes would be as common as cars and bicycles would be cheap.

And he predicted a boom in leisure travel as well as an increase in affordable popular newspapers.

Mentalism Magic

Being Too Nice Will Backfire

By Clifford N. Lazarus, Ph.D. / Source: Psychology Today

Sally's husband was often abusive. One morning, over breakfast, Hank began yelling at her because she was on the phone instead of keeping him company. Later, after Hank went to work, Sally picked up his shirts from the laundry, ran some other errands for him, and decided to cook his favorite dish for dinner.  Do you think Sally did the right thing?

Sally, alas, believed that if she could only create an ideal loving home atmosphere, her husband's abusiveness would stop. Unfortunately, she was in fact rewarding her husband's negative behavior. In response to his outbursts, Hank found his chores done for him and he was served his favorite dinner. Why would he change his treatment of his wife when she responds so positively?

The events that follow an action will weaken or strengthen the likelihood it will occur again. In behavioral psychology, this is called the "Law of Effect" and states that behavior varies as a function of its consequences.

Set Ambitious Goals to Be Happier

By Courtney Rubin / Source: Inc.

As if you needed another reason to aim high: Ambition makes you happier, says new research.

People who set themselves ambitious goals tend to be more satisfied than those with lower expectations, says a study published online in the Journal of Consumer Research.

University of California-Riverside professorCecile K. Cho conducted two experiments, one involving stock-picking and another involving puzzles, to compare people who set ambitious goals to those who set more conservative goals. She then measured the level of satisfaction with the achieved goals, and found those who set high goals for themselves were happier in the long run.

"The moral of the story is don’t sell yourself short," Cho said. "Aim high."

Zapping the brain with magnets makes it impossible to lie

Source: Daily Mail

If truth be told, magnetic interference with the brain makes it impossible to lie. At least, that’s what a group of Estonian researchers are claiming.

They found that when magnets were applied to either the right or left side of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, found directly behind your forehead, it made you lie or tell the truth, depending on which side was stimulated.

When magnetic interference was directed at another part of the brain, the parietal lobe, the subjects’ decision-making remain unchanged.

‘Spontaneous choice to lie more or less can be influenced by brain stimulation,’ researchers Inga Karton and Talis Bachmann wrote in Behavioural Brain Research.

15 Secret Abilities of Chi Power & ESP

By A. Thomas Perhacs / Creator of Chi Power Training

When one thinks of Chi Power Training or Qigong, the concept of developing Extra Sensory Perception or ESP becomes a very real possibility. How does a physical exercise like Chi Power Training or Qigong relate to the development of Psychic abilities or ESP?

The one key factor that one must realize is that physical "Internal" training can have a direct result on mental capabilities as it relates to ESP.

The reason is that when you combine certain physical exercises with mental exercises, you create a way to tap into the inner resources of the Mind, Body connection.

Many have searched far and wide to learn these supposed secret abilities. These "secrets" are really returning the body back to the way it was when we were younger and had perception. As we get older, we come to dismiss the abilities we had as children.

Why 'Unrealistic' Goals Are Easier to Achieve

By Timothy Ferris,
Excerpt from The 4-Hour Work Week

I had to bribe them. What other choice did I have?

My lecture at Princeton had just ended with smiles and enthusiastic questions.

At the same time, I knew that most students would go out and promptly do the opposite of what I preached. Most of them would be putting in 80-hour weeks as high-paid coffee fetchers unless I showed that the principles from class could actually be applied.

Hence the challenge.

I was offering a round-trip ticket anywhere in the world to anyone who could complete an undefined “challenge” in the most impressive fashion possible. Results plus style. I told them to meet me after class if interested, and here they were, nearly 20 out of 60 students.

The task was designed to test their comfort zones while forcing them to use some of the tactics I teach. It was simplicity itself: contact three seemingly impossible-to-reach people—J Lo., Warren Buffett, Bill Clinton, J.D. Salinger, I don’t care—and get at least one to reply to three questions…

Of 20 students, all frothing at the mouth to win a free spin across the globe, how many completed it?

Exactly… none. Not a one.

The Triggers of Mind Control

By Paul J. Mascetta / Creator of The Code of Influence

People are everywhere. That’s why being persuasive determines how effective we are. Where we live, what we do, and even who we love involves influence on one level or another. And by learning the art of “dealing with and convincing people to do what you want them to do”, we can instantly improve our lives.

With so much information around us and so many decisions to make every single day, there isn’t enough time to evaluate everything rationally. And so we rely on subconscious shortcuts to make things easier.

This is why, as irrational beings, we’re susceptible to mental triggers. “People are definitely more likely to believe what you say, based on logic,” Mascetta admits, “but ultimately it is their emotion that will move them to take action.”

The Army's Plan for Telepathic Soldiers

By Adam Piore / Source: Discover Magazine

On a cold, blustery afternoon the week before Halloween, an assortment of spiritual mediums, animal communicators, and astrologists have set up tables in the concourse beneath the Empire State Plaza in Albany, New York. The cavernous hall of shops that
connects the buildings in this 98-acre complex is a popular venue for autumnal events: Oktoberfest, the Maple Harvest Festival, and today’s “Mystic Fair.”

Traffic is heavy as bureaucrats with ID badges dangling from their necks stroll by during their lunch breaks. Next to the Albany Paranormal Research Society table, a middle-aged woman is solemnly explaining the workings of an electromagnetic sensor that can, she asserts, detect the presence of ghosts. Nearby, a “clairvoyant” ushers a government worker in a suit into her canvas tent. A line has formed at the table of a popular tarot card reader.

Amid all the bustle and transparent hustles, few of the dabblers at the Mystic Fair are aware that there is a genuine mind reader in the building, sitting in an office several floors below the concourse. This mind reader is not able to pluck a childhood memory or the name of a loved one out of your head, at least not yet. But give him time. He is applying hard science to an aspiration that was once relegated to clairvoyants, and unlike his predecessors, he can point to some hard results.

How to Lose 20 Pounds on your Vacation

By Michael Park / Escape From America Magazine

There are many things that remind me that I’m back in America when I return from a trip abroad. These include yellow Crown Victoria cabs waiting to pick up weary travelers and soft sesame bagels with cream cheese. However, there is one thing that always tells me, without a doubt, that I’ve returned to America. Obesity.

It’s everywhere: the rotund security guard at the flight gate, the triple-chinned customs official, that lady in the pink sweat-suit waddling over to Ben & Jerry’s. A Frenchman might return to Charles de Gaulle International, smell freshly baked French pastries, and get that distinct sensation that he has returned to the motherland. I get that same feeling when I witness someone devour two entire sleeves of oreos en route to baggage claim.

Our culture of supersized meals, cars, and desk-bound jobs has created a perfect storm of empty calories and sedentary lifestyles that make us lethargic and bloated. I know this because I was once like that – I speak from experience as a “former fat guy.”

Faster-Than-Light Travel and the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence

By Roland Michel Tremblay

Interstellar space-travel and near-instant communication; discovering a network of intelligent extraterrestrial signals; harnessing the mysterious instantaneous quantum-entanglement effect. These are all either science fiction or things we will probably never live to see or understand, correct? Not at all. By the end of this article you will see how clarifying a simple but extremely fundamental misunderstanding in our science legacy makes all of this a viable reality – now.

All Just a Misunderstanding

How can this be? It’s not as surprising as it may seem, but follows from the leap of understanding that often occurs when simple misconceptions are clarified – it is just that this particular misconception reaches back centuries to the very nature of matter and energy.

Misunderstanding the nature of light, for example, the physics underlying “quantum mechanics” and the meaning of experimental results can easily produce a strangely complex science and an oddly bizarre and paradoxical universe. But is this a true reflection of the world around us, or is something else going on here?
