Mind Power Techniques: You Are Wired For Success

For example, if you're in the ending up in someone that is raising your stress threshold or, if like my pal, you discover your head so all in the place who's just can't weigh up the choice to be produced, simply smell the aroma with the mug of coffee in your hand (or whatever!), understand the way the sunlight dances on the liquid's surface, feel the warmth from the cup in your hand, require a sip and taste the bitterness and hear the ambient sounds surrounding you - may be the hiss of air-conditioning, the noise of passing traffic, whatever.

Quantum Physics Proves Afterlife, Claims Scientist

Most scientists would probably say that the concept of an afterlife is either nonsense, or at the very least unprovable.

Yet one expert claims he has evidence to confirm an existence beyond the grave - and it lies in quantum physics.

Professor Robert Lanza claims the theory of biocentrism teaches that death as we know it is an illusion created by our consciousness.

'We think life is just the activity of carbon and an admixture of molecules – we live a while and then rot into the ground,' said the scientist.

Lanza, from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in North Carolina, continued that as humans we believe in death because 'we've been taught we die', or more specifically, our consciousness associates life with bodies and we know that bodies die.

There are plenty of advice columns, self-help books, and loosely spiritual twenty-somethings devoted to extolling the virtues of living in the present. The advice is intended as an antidote to life spent scrolling absentmindedly through twitter or planning next weekend, while failing to appreciate each momentary experience.

While it’s certainly well meaning, the catchphrase alone offers limited guidance. After all, a life spent entirely dedicated to making sure the present moment was enjoyable would never go anywhere; no one would subject themselves to New York’s subway, for example. And neuroscience suggests that, while it may be unfashionable, humans’ ability to mentally transport ourselves into the future is one of the key distinguishing features of our species.

Dean Buonomano, behavioral neuroscience professor at UCLA and author of the recently-published Your Brain is a Time Machine, says that the human brain is an inherently temporal organ. “Not only does it tell the time, it also allows us to mentally project ourselves into the past and the future,” he says.

J.K. Rowling: How to Deal with Failure

Harry PotterBefore the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling was clinically depressed.

In the early 1990s, she returned to the U.K. to settle down in Scotland near her sister. A three-year stint in Portugal had led to a short, unhappy marriage, and she left the country as a single mother of a newborn child.


Rowling spent the next few years struggling to meet ends.

“I was jobless, a lone parent, and as poor as it is possible to be in modern Britain, without being homeless,” she said in her commencement speech at Harvard.

During this period, her depression took a dark turn, and she considered herself a failure. She had fallen and felt stuck. She even contemplated suicide.

Luckily, she found it in her to seek help, and writing became an outlet.

Bruce Lee's $10 Million Dollar Secret

At Planet Hollywood in New York City, there is a letter hanging on the wall that martial artist and actor Bruce Lee wrote to himself.

The top of the letter, which Lee WROTE and dated January 9, 1970, has stamped on it "SECRET." It starts out, "By 1980 I will be the best known oriental movie star in the United States and will have secured $10 million dollars."

The most interesting part of this letter, however, was the second part -- the part, often omitted when we sit down with ourselves to set goals.

Lee goes on to write, "And in return I will give the very best acting I could possibly give every single time I am in front of the camera and I will live in peace and harmony."

How fascinating that Bruce Lee wrote he would have peace and harmony after he said what he would do to obtain his goal.

There are two kinds of goals: product and process.

A product goal is what you are going to achieve, such as, "I will become a Vice President of Sales by next June," or "I will weigh 118 lbs, wear a size 2, and look fabulous on my birthday."

A process goal is what we will do to get it, which means developing a "prescription for success." This is a plan that winners will follow very closely in their daily work habits and periodically evaluate themselves on.
