Cope with Holiday Stress with Meditation

By Nelson Berry, Creator of Video Subliminal Messages

New Year and Christmas are just two of the most anticipated holidays of the year. It’s the season where families and friends get together. The chilly evenings turn out to be fun times to ice-skate in the Rockefeller or shop at Macy’s or simply head to the nearest parks where carolers and revelries are abundant.

However, unknown to many, these are also the times when you tend to experience holiday stress. It is called as such since the main triggers for your stressful feeling are the different preparations you’re making for the holidays.

If you’re working, you will find yourself beating rush sales just to make sure you have gifts to your loved ones. Homemakers would spend countless days cleaning their homes and lawns for their upcoming visitors. Worse, some have to deal with emotional stress, such as meeting relatives they really don’t want to be with on special occasions.

These are supposed to be the best times, and you should not allow stress to completely take over? But how do you exactly do that? You can do so by meditation.

Scientists Challenged to Find the Elixir of Life

By Tom Parfitt / Source: The Guardian

Cleopatra may have bathed in asses' milk to preserve her youth but Nursultan Nazarbayev, the autocratic president of Kazakhstan, wants nothing less than an elixir of life to keep him going.

Not satisfied with 19 years in charge of the gas-rich central Asian state, Nazarbayev urged scientists today to unlock the secret to immortality.

The 70-year-old leader stressed in a speech that a new scientific research institute in the capital Astana should study "rejuvenation of the organism," as well as "the human genome, production of human tissue and creation of gene-based medicines".

In an aside to students, Nazarbayev added: "As for the medicine of the future, people of my age are really hoping all of this will happen as soon as possible."

God In Your Brain

Source: Daily Mail

Scientist Dr. Andrew Newberg conducted brain scans on people during prayer, meditation and other religious, rituals, and various trance states.

He is a proponent of a controversial field of science known as neurotheology, which tries to study the relationship between the brain and religion.

As part of his research, Newberg studied the brain activity of experienced Tibetan Buddhists before and during meditation.

Newberg found an increase of activity in the meditators' frontal lobe, responsible for focusing attention and concentration, during meditation. He attributes the change to the effects of their religious experience.

The Woman Who Can't Feel Fear

By Jeanna Bryner, LiveScience Managing Editor

A 44-year-old woman who doesn't experience fear has led to the discovery of where that fright factor lives in the human brain.

Researchers put out their best foot to try to scare the patient, who they refer to as "SM" in their write-up in the most recent issue of the journal Current Biology. Haunted houses, where monsters tried to evoke an avoidance reaction, instead evoked curiosity; spiders and snakes didn't do the trick; and a battery of scary film clips entertained SM.

The patient has a rare condition called Urbach–Wiethe disease that has destroyed her amygdala, the almond-shaped structure located deep in the brain. Over the past 50 years studies have shown the amygdala plays a central role in generating fear responses in various animals from rats to monkeys.

Calvino Inman, 17, has been suffering from the mysterious condition for two years and doctors remain clueless as to how to stem the flow of bleeding, which can last up to an hour at a time.

But a documentary which will be shown tomorrow night on American television explores the phenomenon, experienced by only a handful of people around the world.

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind

By T. Harv Eker
Author of "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind"

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to get rich easily, while others are destined for a life of financial struggle? Is the difference found in their education, intelligence, skills, timing, work habits, contacts, luck, or their choice of jobs, businesses, or investments?

The shocking answer is: None of the above!

In his groundbreaking "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind", T. Harv Eker states: "Give me five minutes, and I can predict your financial future for the rest of your life!"

Eker does this by identifying your "money and success blueprint." We all have a personal money blueprint engrained in our subconscious minds, and it is this blueprint, more than anything, that will determine our financial lives. You can know everything about marketing, sales, negotiations, stocks, real estate, and the world of finance.

But if your money blueprint is not set for a high level of success, you will never have a lot of money-and if somehow you do, you will most likely lose it! The good news is that now you can actually reset your money blueprint to create natural and automatic success.

Is the Universe an Illusion?

By Sara Reardon / Source: Symmetry Magazine

In 2008, Fermilab particle astrophysicist Craig Hogan made waves with a mind-boggling proposition: The 3D universe in which we appear to live is no more than a hologram.

Now he is building the most precise clock of all time to directly measure whether our reality is an illusion.

The idea that spacetime may not be entirely smooth – like a digital image that becomes increasingly pixelated as you zoom in – had been previously proposed by Stephen Hawking and others.

Possible evidence for this model appeared last year in the unaccountable “noise” plaguing the GEO600 experiment in Germany, which searches for gravitational waves from black holes. To Hogan, the jitteriness suggested that the experiment had stumbled upon the lower limit of the spacetime pixels’ resolution.

The Imagination Diet: To Eat Less, Imagine Eating More

By Greg Miller / Source: Science Now

Before dipping your hand into that bowl of M&Ms at the holiday party, think about what you're about to do. A lot. A new study finds that people who imagine themselves consuming many pieces of candy eat less of the real thing when given the chance. The finding, say experts, could lead to the development of better weight-loss strategies.

Picturing a delicious food—like a juicy steak or an ice cream sundae—generally whets the appetite. But what about visualizing yourself eating the entire sundae, spoonful by spoonful? There's reason to think that might have the opposite effect, says Carey Morewedge, an experimental psychologist at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Researchers have found that repeated exposure to a particular food—as in taking bite after bite of it—decreases the desire to consume more. This process, which psychologists call habituation, dampens appetite independently of physiological signals like rising blood sugar levels or an expanding stomach. But no one had looked to see whether merely imagining eating has the same effect.

The Greatest Advice of All Time

By Nicholas P. Kidd and Henk J.M. Schram
Creators of The Great Revolution

So why are you interested in the ‘Law of Attraction’ anyway?

Obviously, it’s about doing what you really want to do with your life.

We’ve said it repeatedly, quoting the wise man’s adage:
Money and fame do not happiness make.

Of course, they may help in being happy. For example, it’s pretty nice not having to worry about money. Let’s face it… Most people like money. And others like fame, and many like both.

The thing is… money and fame are usually merely external confirmations of the fact that you’re being happy and doing what you want with your life already.

If you are, money and fame are usually no issues anymore. You either don’t care about them because you’re being happy anyway. Or (many times) they may come as side-effects, or symptoms caused by the fact that you’re already being happy with yourself and your life.

That’s where the principle of being happy and grateful for what happens to you and the situation you’re in is relevant.

Mumbai Sweet Water

The 2006 Mumbai “sweet” seawater incident was a phenomenon during which residents of Mumbai claimed that the water at Mahim Creek, one of the most polluted creeks in India that receives thousands of tonnes of raw sewage and industrial waste every day, had suddenly turned “sweet”. Within hours, residents of Gujarat claimed that seawater at Teethal beach had turned sweet as well. In the aftermath of the incidents, local authorities feared the possibility of a severe outbreak of water-borne diseases, such as gastroenteritis. The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board had warned people not to drink the water, but despite this many people had collected it in bottles, even as plastic and rubbish had drifted by on the current. By 2pm the following day, the devotees said that the water was salty again.

How to Influence and Understand People With Body Language

By Michael Lee
Author of How To Be An Expert Persuader

You've probably heard the expressions before.. "Chin up, shoulders back," "Keep
your distance," "Feet on the ground," "Pain in the neck." But have you ever wondered how they came about? It all has to do with Body Language.

Simply put, body language is the unspoken communication we all use in every
face-to-face encounter with other human beings. You could say it's more powerful than anything said aloud.

Ninety-three per cent of our everyday
communications is non-verbal. Only 7% has to do with words at all. You could be telling that other person much more with your body language than you would ever say in words.

Determining and regulating your own body language could well mean the difference when it comes to job interviews, networking meetings, banquets and business dinners, or even a social occasion such as a date. Even trickier is learning to read and understand the other person's body language.

How to Exorcise Aliens

By Paul Schroeder / UFO Digest

Under the guise of technical testing, grey aliens create dithers and stress and impose raw anxiety, in abductee's daily lives to create the juices, the endocrine stress flavors that their nighttime palates crave.

This is a most unique relationship akin to vampires of the 3rd century myths of negative, bedroom, nighttime intruders who crave bodily juices.

And yes, oddly, garlic does indeed repel them when used as an herbal repellent.

Psychic vampires from techno space? Sounds like a bad B movie but most abductees are treated as though they were just alien food, ethereal and physical food. Energy is drained through implant drains and through alien controls that involve micro manipulations of almost all psychic functions.

The parallel between alien abductions and demonic possession is powerful as both show intrusive dark intentions to disrupt and control and all without any seeming conscience.

More Ghosts After Earthquake

By Sam Sachdeva / Stuff.co.nz

The "sheer strength and power" of the September 4 earthquake has more than doubled the number of reported supernatural events in Canterbury, a paranormal investigator says.

Christchurch Paranormal Investigators founder Anton Heyrick said his team had received an "interesting influx" of phone calls and emails after the 7.1-magnitude earthquake, with more than double the usual number of inquiries.

"People are calling us, saying that they had always felt like there was something in the house, but since the earthquake it had become more intense," he said.

Are Orgasms All in the Mind?

It is a common experience to have orgasms through dreams, hinting at the possibility that our mind may be the vehicle for orgasms, not the body.
