Simple Enlightenment

Here's a story:

A wise master and his student. The student lives far away and writes monthly updates on his progress towards enlightenment.

The first letter: "I see visions of heaven. I'm lifted by angels, I feel light like I can fly. I can see the whole world."
The master grumbles and rips up the letter.

The next letter a month later. "I've seen all the universes. I've created worlds. I've seen the inside of myself."

The master grumbles and rips the letter into even tinier shreds.

The next letter from the student: "I've sat in meditation for one month straight without eating. My mind is an empty sea. I can see everyone's aura. I see the whole past and the whole future in this single instant."

The master says to nobody in particular, "this is shit." And puts the letter in his paper shredder. The master gets lots of letters from students.

Six months go by and no letter from the student. Finally the master, curious about an update, writes the student and asks what's going on.

The student writes back a letter: "Who cares!?"

Finally, the master smiles.

That's enlightenment.

Woman Hypnotized and Robbed of $160,000

Source: UPI
Boston's Chinatown has been on edge since a 57-year-old woman claimed three women used hypnosis to get her to fork over $160,000 in life savings, police say.

Police say the victim was food shopping in Chinatown April 15 when the trio of women tapped her on the shoulder and began asking her questions.
The victim says one of the suspects spoke and her henchwomen handed her a plastic bag. She was told to go home and meet them several hours later on Boston Common.

The victim filled the bag with a necklace, a jade bracelet, two gold rings, her passport and $160,000 in cash. She then went to the meeting spot and handed over the fortune.

Improve Your Memory with Silly Stories

You've heard about several memory enhancing techniques. Linking and associating, creating a story out of several items you need to remember.

There are in fact, many ways how you can remember important information such as numbers, events, errands and names. The challenge is how to make all the information easy to retrieve, out of the top of your head in a random situation.
Memory techniques work on anything that you like to master.

There are things you may need to work on in memorizing something for the first time but all information has techniques on how they can all be memorized. It just takes a lot of interest and enthusiasm to be able to absorb all the information we want to understand and remember.

Twin Telepathy Led to Discovery of Tumour

By Adele Horin / Source: Sidney Morning Herald

Identical twins Craig and Brenton Gurney, 38, were inseparable as children, shared a bedroom until they were 22, and have played in the same soccer team since they were five. They even ended up marrying women named Nicole.

''We've always been really, really close,'' Brenton says.
If extrasensory perception exists between twins it was Craig who was the intuitive one. From 2700 kilometres away he once divined when his brother had a life-threatening mystery rash, and when he had dislocated a shoulder.

So the story of the Gurney twins is even more remarkable because it was Brenton who started getting the persistent headaches. It was Brenton who persuaded hale and hearty Craig to join a study of twins (looking into mental health and resilience) because it included an MRI scan.

5 Mind-Bending Facts About Dreams

By Jeanna Bryner / Source: LiveScience

When your head hits the pillow, for many it's lights out for the conscious part of you. But the cells firing in your brain are very much awake, sparking enough energy to produce the sometimes vivid and sometimes downright haunted dreams that take place during the rapid-eye-movement stage of your sleep.

Why do some people have nightmares while others really spend their nights in bliss? Like sleep, dreams are mysterious phenomena. But as scientists are able to probe deeper into our minds, they are finding some of those answers.

Here's some of what we know about what goes on in dreamland.

Wake Up Thinner by Visualizing Before Sleep

Could there be any truth to those claims that you can think yourself thinner? On the surface it doesn't seem likely, since it is hard to imagine how you could change your metabolic rate (the rate at which you burn fat) simply by changing your way of thinking.

But of course changing your metabolic rate isn't the only way to think yourself thinner. If you can convince yourself to adopt habits that reduce the amount of food you eat, or change the types of foods you eat to a more healthy selection, then you are going to lose weight.

That's not rocket science. The trouble is that it can be hard to implement healthy habits, especially if you are saddled with bad ones that you have picked up over the duration of your lifetime.

Psychic Spies and Extraterrestrials

By Alejandro Rojas/ Source: Huffington Post

In April, SRI International announced it will be taking over the management of the Allen Telescope Array, whose primary purpose is listening for signals from extraterrestrial civilizations.

The array was built by the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute (SETI) and the University of California, with the majority of funding coming from its namesake, computer magnate, Paul Allen. SRI is no stranger to controversial projects.

In the late '70s SRI developed a method of psychic spying called "Remote Viewing," which quickly caught the attention of the CIA, and eventually culminated into a formal project ran by U.S. Army intelligence. Founding members of this clandestine organization claim they even used their skills to remote view UFOs and extraterrestrials.

Psychologists Find That Superstitions Can Improve Your Life

By Thorin Klosowski / Source: LifeHacker

Michael Jordan wore his college team's shorts underneath his Bulls uniform because he believed it brought him good luck. If six NBA championships can be considered proof, his superstition worked. It sounds silly (well, it is silly), but it's not all magic.

Absurd as superstitions may seem, psychologists have an explanation for why it's not so far-fetched to believe a lucky charm can make you perform better.

Superstitions can range from small behavioral choices (like always putting on your right shoe first) to more extreme decisions (say you avoid the number 13 at all costs). The most curious thing about these superstitions is that they actually work and can alter your behavior, boost your performance, and help you achieve your goals.

Can Brain Scans Read Your Dog's Mind?

Fido's expressive face, including those longing puppy-dog eyes, may lead owners to wonder what exactly is going on in that doggy's head. Scientists decided to find out, using brain scans to explore the minds of our canine friends.

The researchers, who detailed their findings May 2 in the open-access journal PLoS ONE, were interested in understanding the human-dog relationship from the four-legged perspective.

"When we saw those first [brain] images, it was unlike anything else," said lead researcher Gregory Berns in a video interview posted online. "Nobody, as far as I know, had ever captured images of a dog's brain that wasn't sedated. This was [a] fully awake, unrestrained dog, here we have a picture for the first time ever of her brain," added Berns, who is director of the Emory University Center for Neuropolicy.

He added, "Now we can really begin to understand what dogs are thinking. We hope this opens a whole new door into canine cognition, social cognition of other species."

How to Switch Dimensions

By Steve Pavlina
When I want to make a significant change in my life, I often think of it in terms of switching dimensions. My attention is focused on my current reality right now, and my desired situation can be said to exist as some alternate reality outside of my primary focus.

In that other reality, there's another me who's already where I want to be. My goal then is to become that other me and to shift into his reality.

In practice this is fairly straightforward. It may sound odd to you at first, but try not to get caught up on the words I use to describe the process. You may choose to frame it differently than I do, and that's fine.

First I'll explain how the process works in general, and then I'll walk you through a specific example to illustrate it.

Erotic Hypnosis For Intense Orgasms

By Brian Moylan / Source: VICE Magazine

When you first meet Neil, a handsome if regular-looking guy in a tight waffle shirt and a pair of jeans, you might call him nerdy if he wasn't so nondescript.

Based on looks, you wouldn't think that this former IT guy makes his living giving people the most mind-bending, dick-splitting orgasms found anywhere on the planet. But, yes, this guy with a Ned Flanders statue on a bookshelf and Snoopy cartoons on the wall does just that in his Spartan apartment in New York.

Neil doesn't induce these sensations with magic hands or a dick that would make Ron Jeremy jealous. In fact, he doesn't even take off his clothes at all. What Neil does is lie you down on a couch, tell you that you're getting very, very sleepy, and then wake you up to the most intense feeling of sexual pleasure you'll ever experience.

What's his secret? That old staple of bad superhero cartoons and schlocky cruise-ship stage shows: hypnotism.

Red Pill or Blue Pill: How to Break Free from the Shackles of Society and Reclaim Your Status as Co-Creator

By Gerald O'Donnell / Creator of One Universal Mind

You are by far much more powerful that you can ever imagine in your present state of belief, as you all carry an innate gigantic power within yourself. This power, gifted at birth, is there for you to discover, if you only put some minimal effort at it and regain faith in yourself and our almost unlimited potential as a human family.

As Created human parts of the Creator, we can open to higher levels of ourselves - call them, if you will, Higher selves or intelligences - who operate with much more knowledge, vision, wisdom, and creative abilities that our lower limited earthly selves. They are all accessible from within the deep and almost infinite recesses of our own inner mind.

Although we do not yet know it or believe in it, we were birthed with the right, if we access these deeper Higher levels in awareness, to command them to please us and manifest our desires to us, instead or having it done the other way around, when they manifest life according to their desires, as is the case nowadays.

Yes, we can rule over our subconscious realm, instead of having it rule us. Please realize the profound implications of this truth.

It is time to let go of society's limited and restrictive opinions about yourself and what you can or should do about your life, no matter how well intentioned it is. It is high time for you to break the shackles in which society has constantly forced you into and programmed you from a very young age.

It is time for you to lift yourself out of the old repeating grooves of our old matrix. It is time to stop repeating old history over and over again with ever more destructive consequences.

'Psychic Surgeon' Heals Thousands in Brazil

Every week using mainly his hands but also armed with scissors, a knife and scalpel, Joao Teixeira de Faria, a self-styled Brazilian medium and "psychic surgeon", treats thousands of sick people who claim to be cured.
Among those who have sought the services of the healer known as "John of God" has been none other than Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the popular Brazilian ex-president, now said to be in remission from larynx cancer.

"I am going to cure you," de Faria told one young woman during a session in the small town of Abadiania in the central state of Goias. After going into a trance, he stuck a 4cm needle into the sole of her feet.

"Don't look, it's going to hurt," he warned her as he thrust the needle in several times.

The young woman apparently felt nothing and when it was over, the nearly illiterate faith healer flashed a big smile.

His patient, visibly moved, extols that she has just been cured from a chronic illness which doctors could not treat.

Super Brain Yoga - One Simple Move to Make You Smarter

From the book Superbrain Yoga

Superbrain yoga, a no-brainer? Suppose there was a yoga that wouldn't just give you Deepak's calm, Gaga's bod or DDP's pluck, it would actually make you smarter. No, it's not math! (Though you may want to brush up on the 'rithmatic from time to time there.)

That's what this technique called Superbrain Yoga promises, in just 5 minutes a day. We have clearly been wasting our time.

What in the gray matter is Superbrain Yoga? Created by Master Choa Kok Sui, the method is more or less yoga moves and breathing techniques combined with pressing acupressure points to stimulate neuropathways in the brain to synchronize right and left hemispheres. Et voila! We are all Einsteins. Er, kinda.

Tibetan Yoga Helps Sleep

By Kate Ramsayer / Houston Chronicle

East meets West in one corner of the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, where researchers are using the techniques of Western medicine to examine the efficacy of Eastern practices.

Along with his colleagues, Dr. Lorenzo Cohen of M.D. Anderson recently published a report in the journal Cancer that found cancer patients who participated in a Tibetan yoga course noticed improvements in their sleep patterns.

"It was quite remarkable to us that we were actually able to have an impact on patients' sleep," said Cohen, the director of the integrative medicine center at M.D. Anderson and an associate professor in the behavioral science department.

"Cancer patients' sleep can be so disruptive, so to have designed a program that significantly improved their sleep seems quite beneficial."

9 Ways to Make Yourself Smarter

By Jamie Condliffe / Source: Gizmodo.com

It often seems like everything you do, touch, or eat can make you smarter or dumber. But that's not quite the case.

There are, of course, plenty of ways to tweak your life in order to gain yourself a little cognitive advantage over the competition. The problem is that some have very little real effect. Others are more trouble than they're worth.

Here's a guide to some of the most effective ways to boost your brain power.

Mentalism Magic

The Simplest Way to Get Smarter

By Jeff Haden/ Source: INC.

Sure, exercise is good for your health. We all know that. But exercise is also a scientifically proven way to make yourself smarter.

According to Gretchen Reynolds, author of the soon to be released The First 20 Minutes, a book about the science of exercise, recent research shows that exercise can help your brain resist physical shrinkage and improve cognitive flexibility.

"Exercise," she writes in the New York Times, "...does more to bolster thinking than thinking does."

Scientists find way to wipe out painful memories

By Danny Buckland, Daily Mirror

It sounds like something from a science fiction movie.

But researchers reckon they have found a way to erase painful memories and post-traumatic stress.
They discovered a link between a protein called PKM and recollections of disturbing incidents.

By targeting the specific brain circuit which holds the tormenting memory they believe they could weaken it or wipe it out.

The incredible study paves the way for treatment for war veterans and victims of horrific attacks. It may also help drug addicts and people with long-term memory disorders such as Alzheimer’s.

The Most Powerful Words in the Universe

By Jason Mangrum,
Co-Author of
Uberman! Almost Super Human

Spiritual masters say that enlightenment can happen in an instant or like the blooming of a lotus flower. The same can be said of realizations, and learning.

As you read a book on any subject you will have moments that you stop reading just long enough to say "Ah ha!" or "Wow, that's how that works" or "that's why that happens!"

When you first look at a new math equation and it makes no sense, then later after you learn the process, you can look at the same equation again and you not only understand it you can solve it.

The point I am trying to make is this: There is a point where something is gained from any knowledge. First you are ignorant, and then you inquire, next you realize, now you have the power of that knowledge and can apply it to your world.

People will sell you courses and charge you thousands of dollars to beat around the bush and flush out the truth I am about to tell you.

I have used this method that consists of only 2 words to create anything I want usually within 24 hours if not instantly.
