7 Myths About HypnoBirthing

The idea of having a calm, relaxing experience during childbirth remains to be one met with a lot of skepticism. But one technique promises and has delivered exactly that.

Birthing with hypnosis, or the trademarked program HypnoBirthing (also referred to as The Mongan Method), is a technique that aims to help women use deep relaxation, breathing, and self-hypnosis to experience birth in way that's very different from the panicky, painful process we've been told is the only way to go. But it's not.

Sexual Magick in Seven Steps

By Jason Louv / Source: UltraCulture.org

So. Sex magick. This will likely be remedial information for most of you but it never hurts to drag out the classics for another look. Some basics:

1. Your Conscious Mind is a Chatterbox That Always Gets in the Way.

You want some stuff. You really, really want some stuff. You might want a better job, a better place to live, a better relationship. Or maybe you want some kind of deep spiritual fulfillment. But you never get these things. Why? Because your mind is a chatterbox that always gets in the way. It's a bundle of disjointed, attention-defecited thoughts that go in every direction, all the time. It's scattered and dispersed and instead of a mighty river flowing in one direction it's a bunch of channels and creeks spidering all over the place and dispersing its energy everywhere. Your thoughts are contradictory, self-defeating and by and large wasted and useless. You lack focus.

Source: Amazing Self

We all know how important it is to get plenty of exercise, both for health and for weight loss. Unfortunately, many of us don't get as much exercise as we know we should. Maybe you are just too busy to work a regular exercise program into your day but too often the reason for skipping an exercise workout is that you just don't have enough energy to motivate you.

Some of us feel as though we have no energy from the time we get up in the morning while others seem to experience a mid-day slump. If all you need to get you up and moving is a boost to your energy level, then here are eight fantastic ways to turn up the momentum.

Do You Have A Problem In Your Life?

LSD & ESP: Scientific Studies of Psychics and Psychedelics

By David Jay Brown / Source: SantaCruz Patch

Few people are aware that there have been numerous, carefully-controlled scientific experiments with telepathy, psychokinesis, remote viewing, and other types of psychic phenomena, which have consistently produced compelling, statistically-significant results that conventional science is at a loss to explain.

Even most scientists are currently unaware of the vast abundance of compelling scientific evidence for psychic phenomena, which has resulted from over a century of parapsychological research.

Hundreds of carefully-controlled studies -- in which psi researchers continuously redesigned experiments to address the comments from their critics -- have produced results that demonstrate small but statistically significant effects for psi phenomena, such as telepathy, precognition, and psychokinesis.

Ouija Board Mayhem Hospitalizes Three

Three American friends have been taken to hospital after reportedly becoming 'possessed' by evil spirits while playing with a Ouija board.

Alexandra Huerta, 22, was playing the game with her brother Sergio, 23, and 18-year-old cousin Fernando Cuevas at a house in the village of San Juan Tlacotenco in south-west Mexico.

But minutes into it, she apparently started 'growling' and thrashing around in a 'trance-like' state.

Meanwhile, Sergio and Fernando also reportedly started showing signs of 'possession', including feelings of blindness, deafness and hallucinations.

Paramedics were called to the house and took the trio to hospital, according to Alexandra's parents.

Boost Your Creativity with Purposeless Walking

A number of recent books have lauded the connection between walking - just for its own sake - and thinking. But are people losing their love of the purposeless walk?

Walking is a luxury in the West. Very few people, particularly in cities, are obliged to do much of it at all. Cars, bicycles, buses, trams, and trains all beckon.

Instead, walking for any distance is usually a planned leisure activity. Or a health aid. Something to help people lose weight. Or keep their fitness. But there's something else people get from choosing to walk. A place to think.

Wordsworth was a walker. His work is inextricably bound up with tramping in the Lake District. Drinking in the stark beauty. Getting lost in his thoughts.

Charles Dickens was a walker. He could easily rack up 20 miles, often at night. You can almost smell London's atmosphere in his prose. Virginia Woolf walked for inspiration. She walked out from her home at Rodmell in the South Downs. She wandered through London's parks.

How to Create Your Own Synchronicity and Luck

Real Mind Power Secrets
By Jim Francis,
Author of
The 7 Real Mind Power Secrets

Synchronicity means a 'meaningful' coincidence of outer and inner events that are not themselves causally connected …or a series of seemingly unrelated events which are connected via a hidden agenda.

Synchronicities are events that you attract into your life for various reasons - learning lessons - finances - love -spiritual growth - personal empowerment - health.

As souls we are capable of creating our own reality or drawing synchronicity into our lives as we need to learn and grow. You create the reality on a level other than third dimension. You may not be consciously aware that you are creating it. Shortly afterwards the event manifests into your life.

You May Be Broke, But Don't Be Boring

Eliminating limiting beliefs about abundance won't help much if you still cling to limiting beliefs about being broke.
Could you be totally broke the rest of your life and still have a blast? If you can't see that yet, you're:
  • blind to what really matters in life
  • turning money into a power source
  • being boring
Don't expect the universe to lavish abundance on you for being blind, powerless, and boring.

Consciousness After Death - Strange Tales from the Frontiers of Resuscitation Medicine

Sam Parnia practices resuscitation medine. In other words, he helps bring people back from the dead — and some return with stories. Their tales could help save lives, and even challenge traditional scientific ideas about the nature of consciousness.

"The evidence we have so far is that human consciousness does not become annihilated," said Parnia, a doctor at Stony Brook University Hospital and director of the school's resuscitation research program. "It continues for a few hours after death, albeit in a hibernated state we cannot see from the outside."

Pilots Land Planes With Their Minds

Why pilot a plane with your hands and feet when you can do it with your brain? Thought-controlled flight could be arriving soon, according to the EU-funded "BrainFlight" project.

A team of scientists from the Institute for Flight System Dynamics and the Berlin Institute of Technology says it has translated brain impulses into control commands, enabling pilots in a plane simulator to achieve a range of remarkably precise maneuvers without touching the controls or pedals.

Wearing a cap with lots of cables attached, pilots in the simulator were able to land a plane simply by looking at the screen and moving the control stick with their thoughts, correcting the plane's position repeatedly until it landed.

Is Religion Good For Your Brain?

If you live in Georgia, you're more likely to have a healthy brain than if you live in Minnesota. That's according to an annual state-by-state ranking released this week by a national health education campaign called Beautiful Minds.

While Georgians could use more "mental stimulation through reading and game playing," their high level of religious activity elevated them to a No. 10 ranking. And while Minnesotans read more and are active in their communities, their low level of religious activities contributed to their No. 31 ranking.

Why the emphasis on religion? Research has linked religious activity with everything from reduced stress to better memory retention.

This Is Your Brain On God

"Everyone philosophizes," writes neuroscientist Dr. Andrew Newberg in his latest book, The Metaphysical Mind: Probing the Biology of Philosophical Thought. We all speculate about the meaning of all kinds of things, from everyday concerns about dealing with a co-worker to our ultimate beliefs about the purpose of existence.

Accompanying solutions we find to these problems, there's a range of satisfied feelings, from "ah-ha" or light-bulb moments upon solving an everyday problem to ecstatic feelings during mystical experiences.

Since everyday and spiritual concerns are variations of the same thinking processes, Newberg thinks it's essential to examine how people experience spirituality in order to fully understand how their brains work. Looking at the bigger questions has already provided practical applications for improving mental and physical health.

The Future of Sleep Will Be Wilder Than Your Dreams

In a hyper-busy world, it seems like sleep is a luxury at times. How many times have you heard your cubicle mate or family member complain that there just aren't enough hours in the day? But what if the key is not in optimizing your day-to-day routine or in trying to squeeze more hours out of a day, but rather, in minimizing – or at least optimizing – your sleep time?

Here's a review of some of the more audacious ideas for rethinking the future of sleep:

Hypnosis Improves the Quality of Your Sleep

Sleeping well is a crucial factor contributing to our physical and mental restoration. Slow Wave Sleep (SWS) in particular has a positive impact for instance on memory and the functioning of the immune system.

During periods of SWS, growth hormones are secreted, cell repair is promoted and the defence system is stimulated. If you feel sick or have had a hard working day, you often simply want to get some good, deep sleep. A wish that you can't influence through your own will - so the widely held preconception.

Change Your Life While You Sleep

Source: Sleep Programming

The average human brain requires 7-10 hours of nightly slumber.

Over your lifetime, that adds up to between 22 and 31 YEARS of your life spent snoozing, unconscious to the world.

But the latest research has revealed that much of this time may be *entirely wasted*.

In fact -- scientists have discovered that during sleep, a "unique" window of learning opens that allows your brain to absorb and assimilate new information like a sponge.

The Not-T0-Do List -- 9 Habits to Stop Now

By Tim Ferriss
Author of
 The 4-Hour Work Week

"Not-to-do" lists are often more effective than to-do lists for upgrading performance.

The reason is simple: what you don't do determines what you can do.
Here are nine stressful and common habits that entrepreneurs and office workers should strive to eliminate. The bullets are followed by more detailed descriptions. Focus on one or two at a time, just as you would with high-priority to-do items. I've worded them in no-to-do action form.

Is This Indian Guru Dead or Meditating?

The family and followers of one of India's wealthiest Hindu spiritual leaders are fighting a legal battle over whether he is dead or simply in a deep state of meditation.

His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj, the founder of the Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan religious order with a property estate worth an estimated £100 million, died in January, according to his wife and son.

However, his disciples at his Ashram have refused to let the family take his body for cremation because they claim he is still alive.

Brain Implants vs. Mental Disorders

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA, is launching a $70 million program to help military personnel with psychiatric disorders using electronic devices implanted in the brain.

The goal of the five-year program is to develop new ways of treating problems including depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder, all of which are common among service members who fought in Iraq or Afghanistan.

"We've seen far too many times where military personnel have neuropsychiatric disorders and there's very few options," says Justin Sanchez, a program manager at DARPA.
