Scientists Have Created Mind-Controlled Rat Cyborgs

Researchers at Zhejiang University published a paper titled Human Mind Control of Rat Cyborg’s Continuous Locomotion with Wireless Brain-to-Brain Interface this month, wherein they revealed that they’d succeeded in controlling rats with the power of human thought.

In the paper, the authors explain that brain-machine interfaces (BMIs) already allow humans to control external devices with their minds in various ways—mind-controlled prosthetics are one example.

How the Month You Were Born Affects Your Personality

Let’s agree on one thing first: Astrology is gibberish — gibberish with a nice line of charm bracelets, maybe, but gibberish all the same. Its fundamental premise — that the combined gravity of all of the planets at the moment you’re born determines your personality — is all by itself its undoing.

As Newton knew, the gravity of any massive object is inversely proportional to the square of its distance. Even for a giant planet like Neptune, which is 2.7 billion miles (4.4 billion km) away, the amount of gravitational pull it exerted on you at birth was…let’s see…times 2.7…divided by 1.1…carry the 2…got it! Zip. So whether you’re a Saggiquarius or Tauricorn or whatever they’re called, forget it.

But just because the day of your birth makes no difference doesn’t mean the same thing is true for your season of birth. Here, scientists are building up a small but increasingly persuasive body of evidence that there may indeed be some cause and effect at work.

How to Influence Slot Machines with Your Mind

By Jim Francis, Creator of
Mind Power - Remote Influence Techniques

If you were told that you could use your mind to influence a slot machine or dice fall... would you find this beyond belief? If you were told that you could use your mind in a telepathic manner to influence the thinking pattern of another individual or group of people... would you believe it?

And if you were further told that you could instruct your subconscious mind to produce a specific dream to help you solve a problem... and use an unusual intuitional mechanism to decode this dream... would you find this a helpful ability?

But what if you were told that you could determine your luck cycle in advance so that you could use it for dollar windfall situations... would this give you a sense of personal satisfaction?

How the Immune System Thinks

New research from the laboratory of cancer scientist Dr. Tak Mak, renowned for cloning the human T-cell receptor, has demonstrated that immune cells make brain chemicals to fight off infections.

In Defense of Laziness

Lazy people make the best leaders.

That was the belief of Kurt von Hammerstein-Equord, a famous German general known for his opposition to the Nazi regime.

“I divide my officers into four groups. There are clever, diligent, stupid, and lazy officers. Usually two characteristics are combined. Some are clever and diligent -- ?their place is the General Staff. The next lot are stupid and lazy -- ?they make up 90 percent of every army and are suited to routine duties. Anyone who is both clever and lazy is qualified for the highest leadership duties, because he possesses the intellectual clarity and the composure necessary for difficult decisions. One must beware of anyone who is stupid and diligent -- ?he must not be entrusted with any responsibility because he will always cause only mischief.”
For Hammerstein, it was better for a leader to be clever and lazy than clever and hard working.

New Study Suggests You Can Learn While You Sleep

As a chronic insomniac, I have a trick to lure me to sleep without drugs: podcasts.
Every night before bed, I queue up a list of podcasts lengthy enough to last me the night. And sometimes, their contents bleed through into my dreams.

Over the years, I’ve dreamed of microbiomes, politics, pop culture, molecular gastronomy—and intriguingly, sometimes the things I heard while sleeping seem to stick the morning after.

Scientists have long wondered if consciousness is necessary for memories. It seems intuitive to say yes—after all, our precious memories are formed during waking hours, when our conscious minds are in control.

How to Train Your Brain to Make Your Dreams Come True

By Dr. Tara Swart, Author of The Source

As a successful doctor of psychiatry and neuroscience, it looked as if I had it all: I was married to a fellow psychiatrist and had a job working for the NHS. We were a carefree young couple, with a great social life and lots of opportunity to travel the world. Everyone assumed I was in complete control of my life.

But I was running on autopilot, and when I reached my mid-30s everything fell apart. I had become increasingly unhappy in my work, worn down by the long hours and workload and the sense of not being able to make a real difference to my patients.

Can Restricting Calories Extend Your Healthy Lifespan?

Source: Vitamonk

Calorie restriction and fasting have emerged as popular health practices in recent years. Calorie restriction is the reduction of one’s daily caloric intake to levels that are below average or habit. It involves eating less throughout the day or fasting for certain meals. This practice is accomplished while also ensuring that nutrient needs are met.

How To Slow Down Time and Live Longer

“They sure grow up fast, don’t they?”

“The older you get, the faster time flies.”

“You can’t slow down time, so treasure your days because they’ll be gone before you know it.”

We’ve all heard these thoughts, often from the parents of grown children. If you’re part of the older and wiser population, you may have even spoken similar words yourself.

And if you’re younger, you may have felt fear well up in your heart as your elders dropped this bit of Bummer Wisdom upon you. The Inevitability of Life Racing By.

But your fear is unfounded.

Top 8 Nootropic Foods That May Boost Your Brain Power

MindTrip Magazine
“Nootropics” have become a new buzzword lately.

Thanks to America’s typical “There’s a pill for that” attitude, nootropics supplements – better known as “smart drugs” – were a $1.3 billion industry in 2015, and research predicts nootropics will be $6 billion industry by 2024.

But there’s arguably a better solution than taking ‘cognitive enhancers’ in pill form: eating whole foods that possess nutrients that have been proven to be beneficial for the human brain.

When Self-Improvement Becomes Toxic

As we enter into the fourth week of January, I’m going to make a wild guess that most of us have already failed on our New Year’s resolutions. What better way to start a fresh year than swimming in the toxic pool of failure and self-loathing?

Despite being an entirely made-up construct, the marking of a new year brings with it a time for reflection and soul searching. Many will take stock of their lives and revaluate everything in it – am I happy, am I successful enough, do I earn enough money, am I healthy enough, am I skinny enough?

Emotional Support Alligator Helps 65-Year-Old Man With His Depression

A 65-year-old Pennsylvania man says his emotional support alligator helps him tackle his depression.

The York Haven man rescued the alligator outside Orlando in 2015. Henney intended to keep Wally as a pet but their relationship soon blossomed into something more.
