Faster-Than-Light Travel and the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence

By Roland Michel Tremblay

Interstellar space-travel and near-instant communication; discovering a network of intelligent extraterrestrial signals; harnessing the mysterious instantaneous quantum-entanglement effect. These are all either science fiction or things we will probably never live to see or understand, correct? Not at all. By the end of this article you will see how clarifying a simple but extremely fundamental misunderstanding in our science legacy makes all of this a viable reality – now.

All Just a Misunderstanding

How can this be? It’s not as surprising as it may seem, but follows from the leap of understanding that often occurs when simple misconceptions are clarified – it is just that this particular misconception reaches back centuries to the very nature of matter and energy.

Misunderstanding the nature of light, for example, the physics underlying “quantum mechanics” and the meaning of experimental results can easily produce a strangely complex science and an oddly bizarre and paradoxical universe. But is this a true reflection of the world around us, or is something else going on here?

Dissecting the Buying Brain

Dr. A.K. Pradeep, Author of The Buying Brain:
Secrets for Selling to the Subconscious Mind

Each year a trillion dollars is spent on communicating to and persuading the human brain, yet few understand how the brain really works—what’s attractive to it, how it decides what it likes and doesn’t like, and how it chooses to buy or not buy the infinite variety of products and services presented to it every day.

Neuromarketing research is revealing a myriad of fascinating insights that help improve the effectiveness of every aspect of clients’ brands, products, packaging, in-store marketing, advertising, and entertainment content.

Among the five senses, vision is the most pronounced and the brain will discount information that is not in concert with the visual stimuli it receives. The sense of smell is quite powerful too, as it is the most direct route to emotions and memory storage. Being linked with a pleasant, iconic smell can significantly improve a product’s success in the marketplace.

Brains are also quite empathic and it is a neural “monkey see; monkey do” mechanism that can help companies around the world create and market products and services that consumers will find naturally compelling.

Has Modern Science Turned Evil?

By Mike Adams, Natural News

I have a timely and important message to share with you today. As explained in this important mini-documentary we've decided to release at this moment, it is time that we tore away the false facade of "modern science" and exposed the core philosophical underpinnings that have enabled so much pain, suffering and destruction to be carried out in the name of "science."

The world of "science" has given us atomic weapons, GMOs, vaccines, toxic synthetic chemicals, pesticides and psychiatric drugs. It has used innocent people in deadly medical experiments and unleashed widespread genetic pollution on our world through the careless proliferation of genetically modified organisms.

But the scientists insisted they were creating a better world. "Better living through chemistry," they said two decades ago. And now, a generation later, we are dealing with a collapse of life on our planet so large and so disastrous that it is being called the sixth great extinction of life on our planet.

How could science have paved the way for such destruction on the planet?

How to Achieve Your Travel Goals

By Steve Pavlina

Are there some places you’d just love to visit? How long have you dreamed of doing so? Years perhaps?

When you see movies about visiting certain cities, or hear about people traveling there, does a certain part of your psyche salivate with desire? Do you have the thought, I really want to go there someday.

Do you realize that it’s absolutely possible to turn your travel dreams into reality? Those dreams aren’t mere fantasy. They’re the seeds of real experiences.

In this post I’ll share with you some lessons I’ve learned during the past couple years as I worked to transform myself from a very infrequent traveler into the kind of person who regularly sets and achieves new travel goals.

A Quick Shot of Confidence

By Christoph Schertler / Creator of The NLP Confidence Builder

Need a quick shot of confidence?

Maybe you're in a new or difficult situation, like asking the boss for a raise or a party where you don't know anyone. In any case, people often lack confidence in situations where having it could be the difference between success and failure.

One technique for building confidence in these kind of situations is called acting 'As If'.

More than just pretending or faking confidence in a scary situation, acting 'As If' is a complete process and can be used to build confidence in areas of your life where it is lacking. Here's how it works:

Scientists Plan to Read Your Mind

Source: BBC

Scientists believe they are a step closer to being able to read people's minds after decoding human brainwaves.

Glasgow University researchers asked volunteers to identify different emotions on images of human faces.

They then measured the volunteers' resulting brainwaves using a technique called electroencephalography (EEG).

Once researchers compared the answers to the brainwaves recorded, they were able to decode the type of information the brainwaves held relating to vision.

Paranormality: Why We See What Isn't There

By Stephanie Pappas, LiveScience Senior Writer

Richard Wiseman doesn't believe in spooks — and he doesn't think you should, either. Once a professional magician, the University of Hertfordshire psychologist has always been intrigued by the unusual side of the human experience, conducting research on luck, lying and the paranormal.

In his new book, "Paranormality," (Macmillion, 2011), Wiseman delves into the science (or lack thereof) of hauntings, psychics, telepathy and other supposedly inexplicable phenomena.

Americans will have to seek out the book on Kindle, as American publishers told Wiseman there was no market for debunking the paranormal in the U.S. LiveScience begs to differ, so we got in touch with Wiseman to talk about the allure of the occult and why Americans are so fond of psychic hotlines.

Out Of Body Experience Guaranteed – Alarm Clock Technique

By Steve G. Jones, Creator of The Art of Astral Projection

This technique needs to be done after a full six hours of sleep, ideally in the wee hours of the morning. Start by setting your alarm clock for exactly six hours from the time you lay down to sleep.

So if you lay down at 8:15pm, set your alarm for 2:15am and the go to sleep. When the alarm rings, get up and out of bed. Plan to stay fully awake for an hour.

If you need to, splash your face with cold water, walk around or do something to fully waken yourself.
After an hour, lay back down. Follow these five steps and get ready for an Out of Body Experience.

Is Google Changing Our Brains?

The rise of Internet search engines like Google has changed the way our brain remembers information, according to research by Columbia University psychologist Betsy Sparrow published July 14 in Science.

“Since the advent of search engines, we are reorganizing the way we remember things,” said Sparrow. “Our brains rely on the Internet for memory in much the same way they rely on the memory of a friend, family member or co-worker. We remember less through knowing information itself than by knowing where the information can be found.”

Sparrow’s research reveals that we forget things we are confident we can find on the Internet. We are more likely to remember things we think are not available online. And we are better able to remember where to find something on the Internet than we are at remembering the information itself. This is believed to be the first research of its kind into the impact of search engines on human memory organization.

Money Is The Root Of All Good

By Greg Thompson / Source: GregThompson.org

Do you (yes, YOU, I’m talking to you)… do you think money is the root of all evil?

Before you answer that for certain… have you ever asked yourself what is the root of all money?
Money is a tool of exchange, which can’t exist unless there are goods produced and people able to produce them.

Money is the physical form of the principle that people who want to deal with each other must deal by trade and give value for value. Money is not the tool of those who claim your product by tears because they “need” it, or of those who steal, who take it from you by force. Money is made possible only by the men and women who produce.

Is THIS what you consider evil?

When you accept money in payment for your work, you do it only because you will exchange it for the product of the effort of others. It is not the government, politicians, or thieves who give value to money. An ocean of tears or all the guns in the world can’t transform those pieces of paper in your wallet into the bread you will need to survive tomorrow.

Those pieces of paper (which should be gold) are a token of honor – your claim upon the energy of the people in this world who produce. Your wallet is your STATEMENT OF HOPE that somewhere in the world around you there are people who will honor and uphold the freedom of trade – that moral principle which is the root of money.

Is THIS what you consider evil?

Happy People Live Longer

By Amy Chaves, Ph.D.
 / Source: Natural News

Happy people have an advantage over unhappy ones--they may be healthier and may live longer.

An extensive review of literature using seven types of evidence indicates that high subjective well-being (SWB), such as life satisfaction, optimism, and positive emotions, causes better health and longevity. The review, published in Applied Psychology: Health and Well-Being (2011), examined 160 studies which showed compelling evidence that positive feelings predict health and longevity.

The findings of the review, based from seven types of evidence, are summarized below...

The way we, um, talk sways our listeners

Want to convince someone to do something? A new University of Michigan study has some intriguing insights drawn from how we speak.

The study, presented May 14 at the annual meeting of the American Association for Public Opinion Research, examines how various speech characteristics influence people's decisions to participate in telephone surveys. But its findings have implications for many other situations, from closing sales to swaying voters and getting stubborn spouses to see things your way.

"Interviewers who spoke moderately fast, at a rate of about 3.5 words per second, were much more successful at getting people to agree than either interviewers who talked very fast or very slowly," said Jose Benki, a research investigator at the U-M Institute for Social Research (ISR).

Insane Science: 5 New Books That Explain The Brain

By Michael Schaub / Source: NPR

When the sun finally comes out and the sweaters get tossed in the basement, we're all at least a little tempted to turn off our brains. Don't do it!

Summer reading — in this case, summer reading about the science of the mind — can be a lot more fun than dodging volleyballs on a beach. Neuroscience isn't just about parts of the brain and hard-to-pronounce chemicals; the books listed here cover everything from religion to pornography, from die-hard optimists to remorseless sociopaths.

Sure, there's a lot of knowledge to be mined in these volumes, but most importantly, they're all fast, fun reads. As subject matter, the brain, it turns out, makes for the ultimate page-turner and science (don't tell my high school bio teacher I said this) the epitome of cool.

Can a Pill Make You Lose Weight, Fall in Love, Stop Smoking?

By Susannah Cahalan / Source: NY Post

Need to lose weight, win friends and influence people? There’s a pill for that.

Or at least there will be one in the not-so-distant future, says a new pop-neuroscience book, “The Compass of Pleasure,” which discusses the future of psychopharmaceuticals — drugs that can, by adjusting brain chemistry, safely help adjust behaviors believed to be hardwired or a function of poor willpower.

Although there are plenty of chemicals that can help control behavior, the mystery that scientists struggle with is how to create a conduct-controlling drug that is both effective and harmless. This discovery is the pharmaceutical world’s holy grail, says author and Johns Hopkins University neuroscience professor David Linden.

What scientists hope to do is to manipulate the brain’s natural pleasure centers and make destructive but pleasurable activities — such as excessive eating, alcohol consumption and drug use — and blunt or suppress the neural kick you get from engaging in the activity.

How to Slow Down Time with your Mind

By Enoch Tan
Author of Reality Creation Secrets

Your spirit operates outside time and space. When there is an emergency where danger is about to approach you faster than you can normally sense, your spirit will compell you to act quickly without pondering. It directs you through your instinct and reflexes. Think of a time when you moved out of harms way in an instant and the move was so spontaneously it seems that everything just flowed in the moment. Your awareness of what was happening and your response happened without hesistation, but so quickly that it was almost together at the same time.

That is because your spirit can observe things and sense reality beyond your ordinary rate and range of awareness. Imagine that a dagger is flying towards you from the side. In oridnary rate of awareness, there is simply not enough time to notice the dagger coming and to move out of the way. But in the realm of your spirit’s awareness, time is slowed down to a crawl and it can fully perceive everything that is happening no matter how quickly. It sends the message to you and in that moment you experience the spontaneous and seemingly simultaneous knowing and action. The awareness comes just before the action but it seems that time slows almost to a standstill during that moment of thought. Perception and action become as one.

If you want to consciously perceive faster so that things don’t seem to happen so quickly, you have to slow time down in your consciousness. It is not time that slows down but you that slows down. See in your mind’s eye and memory things slowing down. Like a picture frame frozen from a movie in motion. It is the way you experience time slowing down or stopping when you see a beautiful person of your dreams.

It would be an advantage for anyone to stop the world or at least make everything appear to move in slow motion. It would give you time to analyze the situation and the actions of everyone and everything around you. It gives you extra time to determine your actions in a pressure situation. This would would be incredibly useful in business, driving your car in traffic, playing games, military combat, sports and life threatening situations.

Perceptive awareness is being fully alert and living fully in the moment. It is seeing the trees bend in the wind and the way the birds circle overhead. It is sensing how the trees feel and what problems and joy the birds are experiencing. It is experiencing the full moment around us and not just our little thoughts. It is clearing the mind of future events and past replayed scenes, so you can experience the entirely of the current moment in time. It is putting yourself in the full frame picture now in front of you in relationship to everything happening around you. It is being fully alive. With that kind of perceptive awareness, a moment can seem to you to last forever.

Sex Magick Revisited

Magic will work. The problem is when we try to explain ‘the how’ the conversation inevitably devolves into new-age idealism… and we’re too cool for that, right?

Fortunately for us, Bill Hicks and TOOL puts it all on the line with a no-nonsense, detached and decidedly non-romanticized account for all paranormal phenomenon. As if we are listening to a newscast we are informed…

“All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. We are all one Consciousness experiencing itself. Life is but a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves.”

If we accept this as reality, then magic is not only possible, but inevitable.
