Being Enlightened Gets You Everything In Life

By Enoch Tan / Creator of Secrets of Mind and Reality

Enlightenment is about seeing through the illusions of life and knowing what reality really is.
When you are enlightened, you can have everything you want. Because you'll know the truth about what everything is, and what does it really mean to have something.

It is an irony of the world that the people who seek material things and desire to have them before
thinking about enlightenment, tend to attain neither, but those that acquire enlightenment first are the ones who do.

The desireless attain all their desires.

Being desireless is not about having no desire, but it is about having no attachment to desire.
Attachment is the cause of all suffering. Suffering is burning emotional energy on the uncontrollable. The more you suffer, the more suffering you attract.

Letting go of all attachments is the way to end all suffering.

When you are attached, you are in a state of wanting or lacking. When you are detached, you are in
a state of being desireless. Enlightenment is about knowing why detachment gets you your desire.

100 Ways To Develop Your Mind

By Steven Aitchison, Creator of Mind Alchemy

This weeks Sunday Siesta has been postponed as I have been working all weekend on this article. It’s my longest article ever at over 4500 words but I think it was worth the time and the effort.

I have been resisting doing this post for a while now. However, it kept niggling away at the back of my mind and I kept getting more and more ideas to add to it so here it is.

I was originally inspired to do this by Dragos Roua who wrote a great post 100 Ways to Live a Better Life and who was inspired by Mike King in this great post 100 Ways To Be A Better Leader who was inspired by Armen Shirvanian: 100 Ways to Show Boldness who was inspired by the maniac who started it all Luciano Passuello and his post Tackling Any Issue With A List Of 100.

So here I am with 100 Ways to Develop Your Mind

1. Do the Thing You Fear the Most. If there’s one thing that will change your thoughts quicker than anything else, it’s facing your fears.

2. Stand up For Yourself. A lot of people have difficulty in standing up for themselves. The first time you do it can be very empowering and your thoughts about yourself will change forever.

3. Stop Talking. It’s great to be silent for just a little while. Our thoughts turn inward and we begin to appreciate ourselves just a little more.

Free Gift: How to Clarify Your Vision to Build Your Dream Life

Source: The Science of Getting Rich Hypnosis

It may seem like an easy thing to ask people what they want but if you ask someone "what do you want to do? Where are you going to be this time next year?" most people don't know.

Or they have an "achievable" plan that's not really what they want.

It is true that people limit themselves by negative thoughts on what is 'realistic'. Then they don't have real enthusiasm for that plan because it's not really what they want.

To have all that you want, you need to be sure what it is you DO want? Leaving your future to chance and 'whatever happens' is giving away your power to be all that you can be.

To have your dream life you need to stop dreaming and get a clear vision of what that life is. Once you have a vision and a clear idea of what you really want, you can then make plans to achieve it. You can work towards it with a clear, focused idea of what you are heading towards.

Medical TV Shows Can Make You Feel Sick

By: S. L. Baker / Source: Natural News

According to a new study out of the University of Rhode Island (URI), watching a lot of television can be bad for your health.

And, no, this isn't more research about how being a couch potato and munching on junk food while watching the boob tube is unhealthy. Instead, this study zeroes in on the heavy dose of medical content in doctor-centered dramas like "House", "Grey's Anatomy" and "E.R.", as well as the evening news.

It turns out, according to study author Yinjiao Ye, assistant professor of communications studies at URI, TV exposure to information about health risks and diseases that are supposedly lurking around every corner can lead people to worry about their bodies and wonder whether it's even possible to protect their own health.

Can Your Brain Keep Reality and Imagination Separate?

Source: Discover Magazine

One of memory’s big jobs is to keep straight what actually happened versus what we imagined: whether we said something out loud or to ourselves, whether we locked the door behind us or just thought about locking the door.

That ability, a new study found, is linked to the presence of a small fold in the front of the brain, which some people have and others don’t—a finding that could help researchers better understand not only healthy memory, but disorders like schizophrenia in which the line between the real and the imagined is blurred.

The researchers looked at MRI brain scans of a large group of healthy adults. In particular, they were looking for the paracingulate sulcus (PCS), a fold near the front of the brain. There’s a lot of variability in the PCS: some people have quite distinctive folds, others have barely any.

It’s in a part of the brain known to be important in keeping track of reality, which is why the researchers chose to study it. Of the 53 people selected for the study, some had this fold on both sides of their brain, some had it on one side, and some had no fold.

How Exercise Builds Your Brain Power

By Dave Osh, Creator of Anti-Aging Fitness

Have you always thought that athletes were less intelligent? Well, hold on to your hat… more and more research supports the idea that the brains of exercisers function better.

This is not new. Researchers have known for years that the brains of exercisers were more active and pliable in later life. Many recent studies take this a step further.

In one such study, Charles Hillman, a professor at the University of Illinois, noticed that over and over the women in his classes that were on the cross-country team consistently scored higher on his exams. Hillman wondered about the possible fitness-brain power connection. So, he designed a study.

He and his team studied 259 third and fourth graders (8 – 11 years old). The students were measured for physical fitness levels (BMI, flexibility, cardio fitness, etc.). The fitness levels were then checked against their math and reading scores on the statewide Standardized Test.

Sure enough, the fittest kids did the best on these tests. The ones with the fittest bodies had the fittest brains, even with factors such as socioeconomic level taken into account.

The Prosperity Paradox That Keeps You Poor

By Burt Goldman, Creator of Prosperity Paradox

The longer you spend doing something, the better you will become at it. That is the Law of Life.

To become an expert at whatever it is you want to do, you know that if you put in the time and dedication, you’ll eventually get there.

After all, practice makes perfect, right?

This rings true for almost anything in life and most professionals in any field will tell you that following this Law has gotten them to where they are today.

It is the proven formula for most things... but here lies the problem... this does not apply to making money.

We spend the majority of our lives trying to make good money. Do the math -- say you have already spent 20 years dedicating the majority of your time and effort into making money. At 40 hours a week, that’s over 40,000 hours spent making money! After that much time, you should already be a master at it!

Negative Thinking for Weight Loss

Source: FatBurning Furnace

(Fair warning: - the material below is very controversial with many of our readers - I receive more strongly opinionated letters on this than any other email)

Let's face it , your physical health is as important as your mental health for your overall well-being.

But mental and physical health go hand-in-hand...this is because getting in shape is just as much, if not more, a  mental and emotional process as it a physical one.

Even if you get the physical results, you still need to makesure  that you make the changes needed in your mind and emotions so that your new behaviors stick.

You don't want to be like 95% of dieters, for example,  that gain all their weight back within a year of losing it.

The Dark Side of the Placebo Effect: When Intense Belief Kills

Source: The Atlantic

They died in their sleep one by one, thousands of miles from home. Their median age was 33. All but one -- 116 of the 117 -- were healthy men. Immigrants from southeast Asia, you could count the time most had spent on American soil in just months. At the peak of the deaths in the early 1980s, the death rate from this mysterious problem among the Hmong ethnic group was equivalent to the top five natural causes of death for other American men in their age group.

Something was killing Hmong men in their sleep, and no one could figure out what it was. There was no obvious cause of death. None of them had been sick, physically. The men weren't clustered all that tightly, geographically speaking. They were united by dislocation from Laos and a shared culture, but little else. Even House would have been stumped.

Doctors gave the problem a name, the kind that reeks of defeat, a dragon label on the edge of the known medical world: Sudden Unexpected Nocturnal Death Syndrome. SUNDS. It didn't do much in terms of diagnosis or treatment, but it was easier to track the periodic conferences dedicated to understanding the problem.

The Secret of Effortless Happiness

By Guy Finley, author of The Secret of Letting Go

Have you ever noticed just how unhappy you can get over the fact you are not happy? Unexamined, this behavior seems to make sense. But a closer look at it will reveal that being unhappy over being unhappy is like throwing gasoline on a fire to put it out. You get lots of fire and smoke -- even a strange excitement -- but in the end all you are left with is ashes. This is why you must understand this next amazing fact.

You can make yourself miserable but you can't make yourself happy.

This shouldn't be too much of a surprise as we begin to learn that we have been unconscious conspirators in our own unhappy lives. Even if it wasn't being pointed out, most of us can admit that at times we do make ourselves miserable.

But there is nothing good about feeling bad. There is never a justification for tolerating self-misery because what is self-induced can be self-reduced and ultimately eliminated if you are willing to understand the underlying causes. This is why we must look at why it is impossible to make ourselves happy if we ever want to come upon authentic happiness.

Why Women's Dreams Are Much Wilder Than Men's

By Flic Everett / Source: Daily Mail

Last night I was on a steam train, going to boarding school while, at the same time and with a growing sense of panic, I was trying to bake a loaf of bread. I knew I didn't have enough time for the loaf to rise and the stress was getting to me.

By the time I woke up from this, my most recent dream, my heart was racing and I felt breathless.
Dreams like this aren't a rare occurrence - my dreams are regularly vivid, colourful and panic-inducing. Some are one-offs while others are repeated over and over again.

I often dream I'm searching for something in an old, crumbling house, or discovering abandoned rooms in my childhood home. Occasionally, the dreams will become nightmares, featuring bereavement, murder or terrifying chases up spiral staircases.

By contrast, my husband tends to have dreams so dull he either doesn’t remember them, or recounts such gems as: ‘I was waiting to buy a new printer cartridge and the receptionist told me to take a seat.’ Thrilling stuff.

The Secret at the Heart of all your Desires

By Guy Finley, Author of The Seeker, The Search, The Sacred

I'd like to share a rescuing fact very few people ever realize...

At the heart of all our desires lies one secret wish.

It isn't to become someone special, or to achieve a social stature whose thrill quickly fades.

What we really want is much simpler than that.

What we really want is... to be.

We long to know that who and what we are has meaning, in and of itself -- no matter what. We wish to know -- intimately -- our own true Story, to share in its open- ended and infinite possibilities, not keep spending our precious time chasing dreams of fulfillment that are always ending!

Mind to Mind Combat: How to Control Your Opponent's Psyche

Source: RT.com

The founder of a Russian combat school says you do not even need to touch your enemy to defeat him. What you really need, though, is the right mental attitude.

Vadim Starov, the owner of the combat school, explains that non-contact fighting is about taking control of the opponent's psyche and giving him a false target. He claims the technique can help you overpower someone far stronger than you.

”I am in a trance, I am relaxed. I am giving the dog a bone. Look the bone is here! Now, it is here! Now, it flies away, and he follows it”, this is how the coach commentates his fighting technique, as he manages to defeat his opponents while hardly touching them.

Non-contact fighting is rumored to have been developed in secret by the Soviet Special Forces to give them an edge against their counterparts.

Creating Psychic Children

By Elly Molina, Author of Annabelle and the Domino

Teaching Children how to develop their innate psychic abilities is enjoyable, very simple and deeply rewarding.

For the past six years I've been working with children between the ages of 3 to 14 to safely explore, develop and train them in developing and enhancing their psychic abilities.

In 2007, I began my first practical hands on training program with a group of 12 to 14 year olds. This first program was designed to last three months with the students meeting weekly for two hours. By the end of the first program, the twenty students in the program were confident in their abilities to be highly intuitive and very effective creators of their own futures.

The results that the participants had were concrete and totally applicable and practical to their lives. Some received higher grades in their classes, others got early acceptance into the High School of their choices and others simply had satisfying results in their personal lives.
