How to Stop Thinking

Learning to stop thinking so much is probably the greatest single step we can take to increase inner peace and happiness in our lives.

Worrying about the future, regretting the past, obsessing over what could or should have been, criticizing ourselves and others, blaming the world for our woes – these are some of the habitual thinking patterns we can become unconsciously lost in for hours, days or even years.

I say unconscious because much of our thinking happens on autopilot as a deeply ingrained habit. Thinking is going on with little or no awareness that it is happening.

Rather than being a wonderful tool to be picked up and used when needed, the mind is more like an out of control Frankenstein monster with a life of its own.

So, how to stop thinking so much? How to free ourselves from the torment of addictive thinking?

Can Plants Read Your Mind?

By James F. Coyle, Author of The 7 Real Mind Power Secrets

In 1966 a very strange event occurred. Cleve Backster, America's top polygraph (lie detector) expert was working late in his New York office. His secretary had installed a Dragon pot plant to brighten the office.

Backster noticed that the plant needed water, and on impulse attached the leads of a lie detector to one of the leaves. The lie detector measures skin resistance and Backster knew that it would indicate when water reached the actual leaf. He poured water over the root system and waited to see how long before this moisture reached the leaves.
Nothing happened. In fact after a while the instrument appeared to indicate less moisture in the leaf. The pen-tracing equipment attached to the lie detector was trending downwards with a fair amount of "saw tooth" motion.

Backster was puzzled as this was exactly the same response expected from a human being experiencing an emotional stimulus of short duration. He wondered if the plant could be displaying emotion.

Neuroscience vs. the Paranormal

By Steve Volk, Author of Fringe-ology

We have been sitting in the dark for hours. I am on the outside of a circle of a half-dozen strangers, reclining on the thick carpeting of a suburban home, watching the silhouette of a hulking man with a digital audio recorder. We are waiting, and listening, for some proof of a ghostly presence in the room.

And I, for one, am not optimistic. I’ve come here with Lou Gentile, a well-known figure within the murky realms of ghost hunting. And so far, we have found nothing to confirm what this family in central New Jersey has told us: they talk about strange rappings, jiggling doorknobs, and an occasional bang in the basement. We have heard nothing of the kind. But more than that, we both think the vibe this family gives off is strange enough without the additive of spirits.

The family patriarch, whom I’ll refer to here as "Paul," moves with the disassociated air of a ghost himself. He is a quiet, intense divorcé who seems to rule over his girlfriend and son with his ominous silences. Like me, he has recently lost a parent -- in his case, his father. And while his family seems to maintain an appropriate skepticism, he clearly wants to believe.

Lots of Money FastBy Stuart Lichtman, Author of
How to Get Lots of Money for Anything

Forgive me for being so bold, but there's a question I want to ask you.

You may get offended. But it's important, so I'm willing to take that chance.

And you don't even have to tell me the answer.

The question is:

How much money do YOU make?

You see, in America - the world's wealthiest country, with more opportunities than anywhere else - 95% of people are broke at age 65.

Ever wonder why some people can start our dirt poor and end up wealthy - while others have every advantage and still struggle to pay their bills?
