The Simple Cure for Just About Everything

At a dinner conversation tonight, the topic turned to health and fitness.

The ladies in the group were discussing their various Crossfit successes, while we men congratulated ourselves on improvements caused by switching to lower-carbohydrate diets and better weight training principles.

The discussion broadened to the health plight of the Modern Human in general, and how the populations of rich countries are getting heavier and less healthy, even as the world makes progress toward lifting many of the poorest countries out of malnutrition due to poverty.

We wondered why with all the wealth and free information available out there, that most rich-country residents end up doing exactly what is worst for them: eating and drinking concentrated sugar, and remaining in a seated position for most of their waking hours.

Wake Up Thinner by Visualizing Before Sleep

Could there be any truth to those claims that you can think yourself thinner? On the surface it doesn't seem likely, since it is hard to imagine how you could change your metabolic rate (the rate at which you burn fat) simply by changing your way of thinking.

But of course changing your metabolic rate isn't the only way to think yourself thinner. If you can convince yourself to adopt habits that reduce the amount of food you eat, or change the types of foods you eat to a more healthy selection, then you are going to lose weight.

That's not rocket science. The trouble is that it can be hard to implement healthy habits, especially if you are saddled with bad ones that you have picked up over the duration of your lifetime.

Super Brain Yoga - One Simple Move to Make You Smarter

From the book Superbrain Yoga

Superbrain yoga, a no-brainer? Suppose there was a yoga that wouldn't just give you Deepak's calm, Gaga's bod or DDP's pluck, it would actually make you smarter. No, it's not math! (Though you may want to brush up on the 'rithmatic from time to time there.)

That's what this technique called Superbrain Yoga promises, in just 5 minutes a day. We have clearly been wasting our time.

What in the gray matter is Superbrain Yoga? Created by Master Choa Kok Sui, the method is more or less yoga moves and breathing techniques combined with pressing acupressure points to stimulate neuropathways in the brain to synchronize right and left hemispheres. Et voila! We are all Einsteins. Er, kinda.

9 Ways to Make Yourself Smarter

By Jamie Condliffe / Source: Gizmodo.com

It often seems like everything you do, touch, or eat can make you smarter or dumber. But that's not quite the case.

There are, of course, plenty of ways to tweak your life in order to gain yourself a little cognitive advantage over the competition. The problem is that some have very little real effect. Others are more trouble than they're worth.

Here's a guide to some of the most effective ways to boost your brain power.

The Simplest Way to Get Smarter

By Jeff Haden/ Source: INC.

Sure, exercise is good for your health. We all know that. But exercise is also a scientifically proven way to make yourself smarter.

According to Gretchen Reynolds, author of the soon to be released The First 20 Minutes, a book about the science of exercise, recent research shows that exercise can help your brain resist physical shrinkage and improve cognitive flexibility.

"Exercise," she writes in the New York Times, "...does more to bolster thinking than thinking does."
