10 Secrets of Failure

By Jim Francis / Source: Real Mind Power Secrets
What does it take to be a winner?

Most successful people do not know how they achieved their success.

Success for them just arrived and was a very pleasant and satisfying experience.

If you stand and talk to a successful person for any length of time you will notice that their attitude and belief system is somewhat different to that which you are used to.

They seem to have a different angle or slant on things which you usually find quite refreshing.

If you could get close enough to these successful people to analyze their belief system you will find that they do none of the following…

The 5 Rules of Happiness

By Burt Goldman, Creator of Quantum Jumping

You know when you’re happy, and certainly no one has to tell you when you’re sad. But what is it that makes a person happy?

It is important to realize, however, that what makes you happy might depress another person. There are people, because of guilt, a feeling they do not deserve what they have, or a feeling they will lose what they have that makes them unhappy when they should be happy.

Possessions are a poor measure of happiness. Possessions are subjective and relative to the individual and the individual’s viewpoint. Instead, we will use a philosophy as an example.

This philosophy is about enjoying things you like, avoiding or changing things you do not like, and accepting what you cannot avoid or change by the skillful use of your viewpoint. The use of this philosophy, as embodied in the five rules, will allow you to test many problem areas in your life and find solutions. With this philosophy, you will be well on your way on your pursuit of happiness.

Angels or Hallucinations: Who Is Watching Over Us?

Source: Macleans Magazine

Joshua Slocum, on his way to becoming the first man to sail around the world alone, encountered one in 1895, an inexplicable presence that steered Slocum’s ship through a 48-hour gale while the Nova Scotian lay prostrate with food poisoning.

Reinhold Messner, the great Italian mountain climber, felt its comforting nearness in 1970, during the nightmarish descent from Kashmir’s Nanga Parbat mountain that killed his younger brother.

And on 9/11 one called Ron DiFrancesco by name and convinced the broker that the route to safety in the stairwells of the World Trade Center’s south tower meant running though flames.

Once you start looking for accounts of a “third man,” a mysterious, saving—and literally impossible—presence who appears to people at times of extreme stress and danger, you can find them by the dozen, says John Geiger, who presents an array of them in The Third Man Factor (Penguin). They’re fascinating to read, but this deeply humane book is far more than the sum of its parts: Geiger elegantly demonstrates how these divergent and very personal experiences reveal our profoundly social nature.

10 Profound Innovations That Will Change The Future

By Jeremy Hsu / Source: LiveScience

Today's world looks increasingly like the future. Robots work factory assembly lines and fight alongside human warriors on the battlefield, while tiny computers assist in everything from driving cars to flying airplanes. Surgeons use the latest technological tools to accomplish incredible feats, and researchers push the frontiers of medicine with bioengineering. Science fiction stories about cloning and resurrecting extinct animals look increasingly like relevant cautionary tales.

But even the best of science and technology has yet to solve climate change and famine, or conquer disease. More and more people live on a planet with shrinking resources, which leads to political strife and conflict. Here, we examine some of the hottest areas where researchers hope to forge a better tomorrow.

How the Pentagon Predicts the Future

By Noah Shachtman / Source: Wired

In the last three years, America’s military and intelligence agencies have spent more than $125 million on computer models that are supposed to forecast political unrest. It’s the latest episode in Washington’s four-decade dalliance with future-spotting programs. But if any of these algorithms saw the upheaval in Egypt coming, the spooks and the generals are keeping the predictions very quiet.

Instead, the head of the CIA is getting hauled in front of Congress, making calls about Egypt’s future based on what he read in the press, and getting proven wrong hours later. Meanwhile, an array of Pentagon-backed social scientists, software engineers and computer modelers are working to assemble forecasting tools that are able to reliably pick up on geopolitical trends worldwide. It remains a distant goal.

How to Eliminate Poverty Consciousness

By Margot Zaher and Jafree Ozwald

Have you ever wondered how poverty consciousness is created and what you can do to step out of it?

Sometimes it happens that we become overly entangled in the material world and get wrapped up in feeling that we always need more money. This idea of lacking money sends toxic stress chemicals to the brain causing the body to fight or flee for its life. Anytime we repetitively feel that there is not enough of "this or that", it forms a chemical rut of impoverished thinking in our body-mind which depletes our energy, manifesting vibration, and financial outlook on life. Every time this lacking feeling is regurgitated it creates mini "poverty attacks" in the inner world, which eventually manifest into physically lacking finances on the outer world.

The good news is that this entrapped cyclical experience is only here to give you an experience of what you don’t want, so that you are inspired to one day become clearer on what you really DO want! The enlightening secret is that this pattern is easily shifted by simply refocusing your awareness OFF of neediness and ON to feelings of gratitude and appreciation.

The Most Dangerous Idea on Earth?

By Stephen Cave and Friederike von Tiesenhausen Cave
Financial Times

It is easy to see how you could be tempted. It might start with genetically screening your children for a lower risk of a hereditary cancer. Or perhaps with a pill that promised to keep your memory fresh and clear into old age.

But what if, while you were having your future children engineered to be cancer-free, you were offered the chance to make them musically gifted? Or, if instead of taking a memory-enhancing pill, you were offered a neural implant that would instantly make you fluent in all the world’s languages? Or cleverer by half? Wouldn’t it be difficult to say no? And what if you were offered a whole new body - one that would never decay or grow old?

A growing number of people believe these will be the fruits of the revolutions in biotechnology expected this century. And they consider it every individual’s right to take advantage of these changes. They think it will soon be within our reach to become something more than human - healthier, stronger, cleverer. All we have to do is live long enough to be around when science makes these advances. If we are, then we may just live forever.

Why You Have Psychic Powers

By Jim Francis
/  Mind Power: Remote Influence Techniques

This concept of intelligence existing "outside" the physical
confines of the living organism has been hard for the scientific
community to accept. But over the past 5-10 years, hard evidence
has been produced which is having its effect on the scientific
skeptics.

Dr. Karl Pribram, a prominent American brain surgeon, sees the
brains neurons "outpicturing" the physical universe, similar to the
holographic process. He suggests that our brains are exposed to the
entire concept of the universe in the same way that any minute part
of a hologram contains basically the same information as the whole.

British scientist, Jacob Boehm came up with the same Holographic
Theory and had it published in a prominent scientific journal.

But probably most amazing of all is the mind power theory that
British physicist Rupert Sheldrake has proffered. If his theory is
proven correct, it will rival Charles Darwin's Theory of evolution
in its magnitude.

Futuristic Thinking Cap Supercharges Your Brain

By James Gallagher Health reporter, BBC News

Are we entering the era of the thinking cap - a device to supercharge our brains?

Could there be a time when everyone from schoolchildren to pensioners, and artists to accountants top up their natural abilities with some funky head-gear?

There have already been suggestions that electricity can boost mathematical talent and now researchers in Australia have found a way to boost problem solving.

The team at Centre for the Mind at the University of Sydney believe people find it difficult to think "outside of the box" because they become blinded by past experience.

So if someone is used to solving a problem one way, the brain struggles to come up with new solutions.

Change Your Mood in Minutes with New Brainwave CDs

By Karl Moore / Source: Brain Salon Brainwave CDs

It sounds like something from a science fiction movie. Just press a button – and quickly boost your happiness, get focused, or fall to sleep. But thanks to one British company, this hi-tech dream is turning into a reality.

Today marks the official launch of the "Brain Salon," an audio program that uses specialized sounds to influence your brainwaves, and change your state. It has been over 18 months in development, and is already receiving critical acclaim.

Speaking at the launch, co-developer Justin Hammond said: "Being in the wrong state of mind really holds us back in life. With the Brain Salon, you can now control precisely how you feel. Just slip on a pair of headphones and listen. It's easy!"

The Brain Salon audio sessions are based on a science known as "brainwave entrainment," which reproduce specific brainwave patterns, using specialized sounds. This changes your state – making you more focused, for example, or helping you to relax.

The method is based on almost 100 years of brainwave research.

The Brain Salon package includes six 30-minute audio sessions for inducing individual states, including heightened focus, improved mood, increased energy levels, creativity, sleep, and relaxation.

Your Body Takes Thoughts Literally

By Natalie Angier / Source: NY Times

The theory of relativity showed us that time and space are intertwined. To which our smarty-pants body might well reply: Tell me something I didn’t already know, Einstein.

Researchers at the University of Aberdeen found that when people were asked to engage in a bit of mental time travel, and to recall past events or imagine future ones, participants’ bodies subliminally acted out the metaphors embedded in how we commonly conceptualized the flow of time.

As they thought about years gone by, participants leaned slightly backward, while in fantasizing about the future, they listed to the fore. The deviations were not exactly Tower of Pisa leanings, amounting to some two or three millimeters’ shift one way or the other. Nevertheless, the directionality was clear and consistent.

“When we talk about time, we often use spatial metaphors like ‘I’m looking forward to seeing you’ or ‘I’m reflecting back on the past,’ ” said Lynden K. Miles, who conducted the study with his colleagues Louise K. Nind and C. Neil Macrae. “It was pleasing to us that we could take an abstract concept such as time and show that it was manifested in body movements.”

The new study, published in January in the journal Psychological Science, is part of the immensely popular field called embodied cognition, the idea that the brain is not the only part of us with a mind of its own.

If there’s one thing movies do better than any other art form, it’s weirdness.

The combination of sight, sound, and music make for a perfect cocktail to take the audience away on a wild and spaced-out ride; and in recent years filmmakers have even started using film as a way to explore heady philosophical ideas like the nature of identity, time, and consciousness.

With this in mind, the following are ten movies that have some of the most far-out, inventive, and thought-provoking plotlines in film history. There are countless honorable mentions that could have easily made this list, so please feel free to leave any suggestions in the comments section.

Violent Video Games Boost Brain Power

By Nancy J. White

For 10 hours, Kathrin Herzhoff fired automatic weapons while storming beaches, patrolling jungles and shooting down enemy aircraft.

It was all in the name of science. Before and after she trained on the video game Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault, her brain waves were measured at a University of Toronto lab.

“It was a steep learning curve, but I felt I improved a fair bit,” says Herzhoff, a graduate student in psychology. She doesn’t usually play video games, much less bloody first-person shooter games like this one. Yet this action genre, often decried for its mind-numbing violence, is emerging as a hot research topic in an unexpected area.

Scientists have found that virtual war games may boost brain power.

People Who Believe Their Lives Are On TV

By Craig Offman / Source: National Post

Joel and Ian Gold, brothers and psychiatrists from Montreal, believe they have discovered a signature mental illness of the YouTube era: patients who claim they are subjects of their own reality TV shows.

They have named the malady the "Truman Show Delusion," and though they are in the process of putting together a medical paper on the topic, their discovery is already causing a stir.

While traditionalists insist that this delusion offers nothing new -- it is no different from, say, a deranged man who believes that the CIA has planted a microchip in his tooth -- the Gold brothers argue otherwise.

"It's really a question of the extent of the delusion," said Joel Gold, 39, who has been on staff at New York's Bellevue Hospital Center for eight years. "The delusions we typically treat are narrow: There is Capgras Delusion, where someone will think his family has been replaced by doubles. Or the Fregoli Delusion, where someone believes that one person is persecuting him: a doctor, mailman, butcher. The Truman Show Delusion, though, involves the entire world."

Free Video: How to Change Your Life While You Sleep

Source: The Law of Attraction Mastermind

A couple of years ago my colleague Jason (of the Law of Attraction Mastermind) taught a simple technique to his Silva Ultramind students so they could bypass Subconscious Resistances and help manifest whatever they wanted. He had been using it personally for several years by that time.

HERE'S WHERE IT GETS SORT OF WEIRD

OK - the students began using it faithfully, BUT GET THIS...

A few of them MISUNDERSTOOD his instructions and ADDED something to the technique. Shortly thereafter those same students began to have BETTER, albeit very EERIE, results.

  • Strangers would appear seemingly out of nowhere to provide help... and then disappear without a trace.
  • Creditors would call and forgive debts for no reason at all.
  • Money seemed to appear out of nowhere.
  • Illnesses dissolved like they had never existed.
  • People would inexplicably fall in love with them, though they just met.

Naturally, he modified how he taught the technique to incorporate their "Eerie Mistake."

The EERIE Technique, as it's now called, takes less than 30 minutes to learn and can be applied TONIGHT as you drift off to sleep.

Jason has just posted a 28 minute video detailing the whole technique, and it’s entirely free.

The Scientific Evidence for Psi Experiences

By Cassandra Vieten / Source: Huffington Post

OK readers, later in this article, I'm going to use an example that will involve either a garden, a sailboat, a running man or a train. Can you accurately guess which one? In a forthcoming issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology (JPSP), Cornell psychology professor Daryl Bem has published an article that suggests you can, possibly more often than the 25 percent of the time on average you might expect just by chance.

Entitled "Feeling the Future: Experimental Evidence for Anomalous Retroactive Influences on Cognition and Affect," the paper presents evidence from nine experiments involving over 1,000 subjects suggesting that events in the future may influence events in the past -- a concept known as "retrocausation."

In some of the experiments, students were able to guess at future events at levels of accuracy beyond what would be expected by chance. In others, events that took place in the future appeared to influence those in the past, such as one in which rehearsing a list of words enhanced recall of those words, with the twist that the rehearsal took place after the test of recall.

Real Rules for Time Travelers

By Sean Carroll / Discover Magazine

People all have their own ideas of what a time machine would look like. If you are a fan of the 1960 movie version of H. G. Wells’s classic novel, it would be a steampunk sled with a red velvet chair, flashing lights, and a giant spinning wheel on the back. For those whose notions of time travel were formed in the 1980s, it would be a souped-up stainless steel sports car.

Details of operation vary from model to model, but they all have one thing in common: When someone actually travels through time, the machine ostentatiously dematerializes, only to reappear many years in the past or future. And most people could tell you that such a time machine would never work, even if it looked like a DeLorean.

They would be half right: That is not how time travel might work, but time travel in some other form is not necessarily off the table. Since time is kind of like space (the four dimensions go hand in hand), a working time machine would zoom off like a rocket rather than disappearing in a puff of smoke.

Einstein described our universe in four dimensions: the three dimensions of space and one of time. So traveling back in time is nothing more or less than the fourth-dimensional version of walking in a circle. All you would have to do is use an extremely strong gravitational field, like that of a black hole, to bend space-time. From this point of view, time travel seems quite difficult but not obviously impossible.

Telepathy Is Real

By Robert M. Schoch, Ph.D., New Dawn Magazine

Telepathy is real. Thoughts have wings. Of this I am certain. It is a shame that telepathy, direct mind-to-mind interaction independent of the known senses (vision, hearing, smell, taste, touch, balance, and so on), is still shunned and mocked by many people. This despite the extensive studies of telepathy, precognition, and similar mental phenomena, carried out for more than a century by some of the best minds, including Ph.D. scientists and Nobel laureates.

The basic phenomena of telepathy have been demonstrated over and over again, and even put to practical use. A vast scientific literature on parapsychology (which encompasses the study of telepathy) exists, with specialised journals and societies.

There is strong laboratory evidence for telepathy, from classic card-calling studies to controlled experiments where an agent inserts material telepathically into a subject’s dreams, through more sophisticated tests for telepathic information transfer in the fully conscious state or at the threshold of consciousness between sleep and waking (hypnagogia).

Better Than Hypnosis?

By Jules Gregory, Creator of Binaural Audios

Self hypnosis and the use of binaural beats sounds seek to accomplish one and the same thing. However, the approach and technique used to attain brain transformation differs in comparison.

Self hypnosis utilizes induction commands or imagery to cause the mind slip into different states of consciousness. It is also widely accepted that hypnosis requires the participant to actually submit to the suggestions of the thearpist and any resistance would make it hard, if not impossible to crete the desired results or outcome. In short, the person being hypnotised has the ability to mentally counterct the suggestions and thus choose not to enter the specific state of mind required.

Binaural beats on the other hand, involves the use of wave frequencies to access the mind. Binaural beat sound entwines with the brain frequencies to slip the mind to various conscious states. The alternating waves frequencies from the binaural sounds gives easy access to the subconscious mind.

When this is attained then affirmations are easily passed to the subconscious mind aiding it to develop into a predetermined state. The results of this act are numerous and helpful to any individual who seeks to better his/her lifestyle.
