The Time-Travelling Search Engine Inside Your Mind

By Ker Than
Source: Live Science

To recall memories, your brain travels back in time via the ultimate Google search, according to a new study in which scientists found they can monitor the activity and actually predict what you'll think of next.

The work bolsters the validity of a longstanding hypothesis that the human brain takes itself back to the state it was in when a memory was first formed. The psychologist Endel Tulving dubbed this process "mental time travel."

How to See Your Future with Subliminal Videos

By Nelson Berry
Creator of Subliminal Video Messages

"There will be two buses leaving the hotel for the ballpark tomorrow. The 2 p.m. bus will be for those of you who need a little extra work. The empty bus will leave at 5 p.m." – Dave Bristol, from 1966 to 1980, managed the Reds, Brewers, Braves and Giants.

When you think of being your best, always think about what your mental vision is. Every time…

If you are not getting the best experiences and results, there is something wrong with my actions.

If there is something wrong with your actions, you need to look at your thinking and emotions.

If there is something wrong with your thinking and emotions, you need to look at your beliefs…

… because if you can change your beliefs…

… that will automatically change your thinking and emotions…

… which will automatically change your actions…

… which will in-turn, without trying, change your experiences and results!

Sure sounds simple doesn’t it?

The Cat That Predicts Death

By Ray Henry
Source: Washington Post

Oscar the cat seems to have an uncanny knack for predicting when nursing home patients are going to die, by curling up next to them during their final hours. His accuracy, observed in 25 cases, has led the staff to call family members once he has chosen someone. It usually means they have less than four hours to live.

"He doesn't make too many mistakes. He seems to understand when patients are about to die," said Dr. David Dosa in an interview. He describes the phenomenon in a poignant essay in Thursday's issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.

"Many family members take some solace from it. They appreciate the companionship that the cat provides for their dying loved one," said Dosa, a geriatrician and assistant professor of medicine at Brown University.

The 2-year-old feline was adopted as a kitten and grew up in a third-floor dementia unit at the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The facility treats people with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease and other illnesses.

After about six months, the staff noticed Oscar would make his own rounds, just like the doctors and nurses. He'd sniff and observe patients, then sit beside people who would wind up dying in a few hours.

Imaginary Friends Are Good For Children

By Anushka Asthana,
The Observer

Imaginary friends, the mysterious characters who often take up residence in family homes, are hugely beneficial to children, according to new research.

A study from the Institute of Education found that the invisible pals offer companionship and emotional support, aid creativity, boost self esteem and create a 'sense of self'. Parents should not worry even if their child dreams up multiple companions, it said.

'Imaginative children will create imaginary friends,' said Karen Majors, an educational psychologist at the institute who is carrying out the research. 'Companionship is a big part of it. They can be a way of boosting self-confidence.

A Million Ways to Make a Million Dollars

By Alan Tutt
Creator of the Keys to Power Mastery System

There are a million ways to make a million dollars. You can take any activity and someone has made a million doing it. Even to the professional vacationers that send in reports to the travel agencies, you can make money doing anything! What I hope to share with you in this article is not so much what to do in order to make money and increase your prosperity, but rather how to think about what you like to do and see the money-making possibilities within it!

We are never so limited as our imaginations make us. One of the most important topics we work with in the Keys To Power Mastery System is the topic of underlying assumptions. And here is why. If you assume that the only way to make money is to work for someone else, then you will never consider the idea of running your own business. And if you assume that there is no way to make money doing what you love to do, then you will lose out because of that assumption.

Underlying assumptions go a lot further in their effects on our lives than with our prosperity, since everything we think we know about the world is in one way or another a false assumption. For centuries, humanity assumed that the world was flat, or was the center of our solar system and the universe. We assumed that speeds over 30 miles an hour would kill us, or that no-one could possibly run a mile in under 4 minutes. All of these assumptions have been proven false, and many more will be proven false once we start to test their true validity.

But back to the topic of prosperity. Right now, there are many different ways you can make money that you are not even aware of. You have valuable skills, talents, knowledge, or aptitudes that you can use to trade for the things you want in life. You've no doubt heard the suggestion that you should follow your passion when deciding on a career. And the reasoning for this is that if you are passionate about the task that you are working on, you will do the job better than someone who isn't passionate about it.

7 Steps to Unleash Dynamic Energy

By Anthony Norvell

Do these Things to Release Dynamic Energy

1. Set some goal for yourself that you are trying to achieve. Make that goal big enough so that it will excite your imagination and arouse tremendous interest. Your energies will rise in proportion to the needs you have. If you have a goal to make only fifty dollars a week, it is not a very inspiring goal. If you push that goal and set a figure such as two hundred and fifty dollars a week, instantly your subconscious mind will release the dynamic energy and the dynamic ideas to make it possible to achieve the larger sum.

2. Have some person or persons in your life that you are trying to help; this can be your own mate, your children, your mother and father; whatever it is that you are trying to do for others unselfishly will automatically give you greater energy and more stamina to endure and persist. If you live just for yourself, it is unlikely that you will have more than just enough life-force to exist. Florence Nightingale was the first woman in history to go out into battle to help nurse soldiers. She freed womankind from the restrictions of their sex, and created a new and honorable profession for women. This frail woman was so inspired by her desire to help the sick, that it gave her tremendous energy and vitality.

3. Find work that you really enjoy doing, and if you happen to be in work you despise get out of it as soon as possible. Nothing will so quickly lower the curve of energy as being in work you detest. It has even been known to make some people chronically sick because they are constantly frustrated. This restricts the glandular action of the body and depresses the body organs. But if you are in work you love, your body cells sing with joy and health and energy, they are stimulated, so that you constantly feel good.

No Clear Evidence Meditation Boosts Health

By Robert Preidt,
Source: HealthDay News

There's no definitive evidence that meditation eases health problems, according to an exhaustive review of the accumulated data by Canadian researchers.

"There is an enormous amount of interest in using meditation as a form of therapy to cope with a variety of modern-day health problems, especially hypertension, stress and chronic pain, but the majority of evidence that seems to support this notion is anecdotal, or it comes from poor quality studies," concluded researchers Maria Ospina and Kenneth Bond of the University of Alberta/Capital Health Evidence-based Practice Centre, in Edmonton.

They analyzed 813 studies focused on the impact of meditation on various conditions, including high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and substance abuse.

Best of the Brain: The 5 Biggest Discoveries in Neuroscience This Year

By William Saletan
Source: Slate.com

The human brain has spent its evolutionary history learning about everything else in the world. Since last summer, it has learned quite a bit about itself. It has discovered lots of things about female sexuality, incest, psychopaths, IQ, brain death, addiction, compulsive buying, and how to remotely control animals through cranial implants. But five major trends and breakthroughs stand out. Here they are, with links to related news items and columns.

  • 1. The arrival of mind reading.
  • 2. The neural alteration of morality.
  • 3. The medicalization of sexual orientation.
  • 4. The discovery of vegetative consciousness.
  • 5. The progress of artificial intelligence.

The Ultimate Visualization Exercise

The following simple exercise is widely regarded as the most powerful visualization exercise ever discovered.

Relax with your eyes closed and focus on your breathing. Tell yourself
that with each breath you take you are relaxing more and more. Now imagine yourself as part of the entire universe. The easiest way to do this is to project your mind at high speed out into space....see the planets then solar systems rushing by. See the universes rushing by until you have reached as far as you can go. When you look back you see all the matter of creation shimmering and pulsating in a large vibrant form before you. You can visualize this shape in human form if you wish (God?).

The suns and planets are your body cells, each filled with energy and
power but awaiting your direction. You realize that you are part of the universe and the universe is part of you. Then see this image exploding into your own consciousness. It is unbelievable bright and full of love.

Realize that this is only one portion of a far greater unseen
multidimensional structure spread out over dimensions that are on the fringe of your conscious awareness. Feel the energy arriving from this entity then visualize this same energy passing into your mind and body. Let it fill your being then direct it physically to any place within your body that you chose.

If you are looking for a financial or other
physical event to occur in your life then picture that event as clearly as you can and transfer this massive vibrant burst of universal energy to that event. Visualize the required event actually happening while you are connected with the universe and full of this life-force energy.

Scientists Create 'Amnesia Drug' to Erase Bad Memories

By Richard Gray,
Source: The Telegraph

It failed to bring Jim Carrey happiness in the award-winning film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but scientists have now developed a way to block and even delete unwanted memories from people's brains.

Researchers have found they can use drugs to wipe away single, specific memories while leaving other memories intact. By injecting an amnesia drug at the right time, when a subject was recalling a particular thought, neuro-scientists discovered they could disrupt the way the memory is stored and even make it disappear.

The research has, however, sparked concern among parliamentary advisers who insist that new regulations are now needed to control the use of the drugs to prevent them becoming used by healthy people as a "quick fix".

But the US scientists behind the research insist that amnesia drugs could be invaluable in treating patients with psychiatric disorders such as post-traumatic stress.

Everyone Can See At Least 5 Seconds Into the Future

By Dan Eden
Source: Viewzone

I am a skeptic. I don't believe in fortune tellers or psychics. I certainly doubted that I could forsee the future. But, as I did the research for this article, I discovered that I was wrong. Everyone can see into the future and we do it all the time.

Ooop! That wasn't supposed to happen.

Our journey starts with an experiment conducted in 1976. Dr. Kornhuber asked a number of volunteers to be wired with EEG electrodes to measure their brain activity. He then asked the volunteers to flex the index finger of their right hand, suddenly and at various times of their own choosing. He wanted to measure how fast it took for the mental decision to move the finger to actually make the finger move. His results were not what he expected.

Kornhuber expected to find a sharp peak in electrical activity when the decision was consciously made, at which point he would begin timing the trials. However, what he found is remarkable, namely that there is a gradual build-up of recorded electric potential for a full second, or perhaps even up to a second and a half, before the finger is actually flexed.

This seems to indicate that the conscious decision process takes over a second in order to act! Even more surprising was that the volunteers were not aware of this delay and believed they were acting spontaneously and instantly.

So what happened? Did the brain somehow "know" that the decision would be made in the future and begin planning the action?

10 Simple Ways to Massively Improve Your Memory

Source: The OptimizedLife.com

Did you know that people compete every year to win the
U.S. Memory Championship? To attain the rank of grand master of memory, you must be able to memorize 1,000 digits in under an hour, the exact order of 10 shuffled decks of playing cards in under an hour, and one shuffled deck in less than two minutes.

To this day, there are only 36 grand masters of memory in
the world.

And while you may not be interested in memorizing digits
and playing cards, I’m sure all of us would like to increase our mental brain power. Whether you want to quickly memorize the periodic table, learn a new language, recite the names of each president forwards and backwards, or cut down on your studying time, the following memory techniques will help you do it.

The brain wasn’t designed to remember abstract symbols like
numbers and miscellaneous facts. However, if you can translate those symbols into vivid visual images and associations, even the dullest list of dates can become as memorable as your own telephone number. The key is to develop a system that allows for quick encoding and easy recall.

We’ll start with the basic techniques and then move on to
the more advanced ones. Although the more advanced techniques do take a bit more practice, they also deliver bigger benefits, so don’t write them off too quickly. With practice, you can become a memory master.
