Reading the Enemy's Mind

I didn’t dream that I would discover first hand that ESP was real. I certainly never imagined that one day I might find myself using mental powers to fight the Cold War. Now, more than twenty years from the day I was recruited, it still seems fantastical if I think on it too long.
I did have adolescent dreams of intrigue. I grew up with James Bond, and longed for the glamorous life of a spy. I also read science fiction, some involving ESP – telepathic animals, or alien strangers marooned on Earth, hiding their psychic powers from suspicious human neighbors. But that was all fantasy – or so I thought by the time I got around to joining the no-nonsense United States Army. I was wrong.
One day, in a scene right out of Men In Black, all that changed. With no warning that such a thing might exist, I was recruited to become a remote viewer – a specialized kind of psychic spy – for the US Government.
Before the decade was out, I and the diverse group of folks I met in what came to be known as CIA’s Star Gate Program had poked our minds into nearly every corner of the world and identified threats to American security, helped to capture narco-traffickers on the high seas, searched for kidnaped hostages, and spied out the secrets of many a potential foe – all without leaving our windowless building hidden among the trees on an Army post in Maryland.

Scientists Try to Explain Deja Vu
Most of us have experienced deja vu at least once in our lives - that uncomfortable feeling that you have been here in this place, in this situation before.
Usually the sensation lasts for just a moment and is quickly followed by the realization that you have not in fact experienced the current situation in the past, and simply cannot know the place you are in.
Nevertheless, there is the feeling that something was there in our memory, either in part or whole.
The sensation of deja vu, meaning "already seen", was given its name in the 19th century, but for much longer the mental phenomenon has both fascinated and frightened those who experience it.
Science has had little to offer by way of explanation, adding to the mystery.

Science Points to a "Sixth Sense"

Ever get a gut feeling something just isn't quite right, and make a decision accordingly? Science is beginning to suggest those instincts may have roots deep in the brain.
Research in young volunteers points to some kind of "sixth sense" -- a mechanism in the brain that picks up on subtle clues, then sends out subconscious signals of trouble ahead.
The finding could help explain certain intuitive phenomena seen among humans. For example, in the recent Asian tsunami, aboriginal people sought out higher ground in the moments before the disaster, as did many wild animals. Could subtle changes in weather or the environment have warned them early on?
Just such an early warning system may exist in the anterior cingulate cortex, a brain area important in processing complex information, according to a report by psychologists at Washington University in St. Louis. Their findings appear in the Feb. 18 issue of the journal Science.

A team of US researchers has shown that controlling devices with the brain is a step closer.
Four people, two of them partly paralysed wheelchair users, successfully moved a computer cursor while wearing a cap with 64 electrodes.
Previous research has shown that monkeys can control a computer with electrodes implanted into their brain.
"The results show that people can learn to use scalp-recorded electroencephalogram rhythms to control rapid and accurate movement of a cursor in two directions," said Jonathan Wolpaw and Dennis McFarlane.
The research team, from New York State Department of Health and State University of New York in Albany, said the research was another step towards people controlling wheelchairs or other electronic devices by thought.

Matrix Realized: Scientists Connect Brains to Computers

At the University of Tübingen in Germany, neurobiologist Andrea Kübler works with a 49-year-old patient whom she identifies only as H.S. Like many of Kübler's patients, H.S. suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a degenerative disease that slowly breaks down the nerve cells necessary for motion.
The disease has paralyzed H.S., stripping him of the motor functions that most people take for granted: sitting up, eating, and even breathing.
H.S. was diagnosed with ALS 14 years ago, and a permanent ventilator has done his breathing for him since 1993. From then until recently, H.S. could converse with Kübler and his caregivers only by blinking his eyes.
Many people paralyzed by a variety of causes—strokes, tumors, or traumatic brain injuries, to name a few examples—communicate rather well by using their remaining, although impoverished, muscle power. For example, French editor Jean-Dominique Bauby, who was paralyzed by a stroke, dictated a 132-page novel (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, 1997, Knopf) just by blinking his left eye.
Similarly, decades after physicist Stephen Hawking was paralyzed by ALS, he continues to give world-renowned lectures by feeding words into a computer program with a flick of his finger.

Can This Black Box See Into The Future?

Psychic Detectives Fail to Perform

Psychic detectives, both "real" and fictional, are currently hot. They have been publicized on Larry King Live and seen in the new hit NBC television show Medium, which recently beat the science-based drama CSI:Miami in the ratings. Yet a close examination of psychic detectives suggests they are better at finding publicity than missing persons.
A common pattern occurs in high-profile missing persons cases (such as Chandra Levy, Laci Peterson, Elizabeth Smart, and countless others): dozens or hundreds of "psychics" offer tips (for free or for pay), yet when police follow up on the information, the vast majority of it ––or all of it––turns out to be wrong.
One trick psychics use is to give very vague information open to later interpretation (most missing persons are likely to be found "near water," even if it’s a lake, puddle, river, drainage pipe, etc.). They also use information already available through normal means, and make so many different guesses that some will almost certainly be right.
Police must follow up on all tips, including those from dubious sources, thus wasting precious hours and police manpower. When bodies are found it is always through accident or police work. Despite repeated claims to the contrary, there is not a single documented case of a missing person being found or recovered due solely to psychic information.

Scientists Can't Find God in Lab

Getting the brain to see God may require more than just magnets.
In December, Swedish researchers reported that exposing the brain to low-level magnetism doesn’t induce spiritual experiences as shown in previous research studies. Even if magnetism might not reliably excite the brain’s “God spot,” the debate continues over the importance of studying the scientific side of religious experience.
The scientific method uses reproducibility to validate experiments. A researcher in a lab in Sweden should be able to reproduce an experiment first done in Canada and get the same results. The Swedes’ findings, or lack thereof, raise the specter of bad science, in which the inability to reproduce an experiment calls neurotheology’s methodology into question.
Pehr Granqvist, a researcher at Uppsala University in Sweden, attempted to replicate earlier neurotheology research done by Michael Persinger at Laurentian University in Montreal. By pulsing the temporal lobe of the brain with weak magnetic fields, Granqvist tried to induce spiritual feelings in his subjects.
However, Granqvist’s team found no significant effect of magnetism on the brain when it came to feeling something otherworldly.

Six Basic Steps to Lucid Dreaming

There are many techniques and methods that you can use for inducing lucid dreams, but there is an underlying process behind most, if not all of them. I have broken this underlying process down into six basic steps to serve as a foundation for your lucid dream training. Once you absorb these steps and start following them, it is only a matter of time before you have your first lucid dream.
In case you are wondering how long it will take for you to have your first one, just follow through with the steps and have faith that you will have one. Statistically, the time it takes for someone to have their first lucid dream averages from three weeks to two months, but yours may be tonight, but don't be discouraged if you try for a while and don't succeed. There seems to be an obsession in our society for instant results. If you are one of these people, realize that this is one of your first obstacles to overcome. Only one thing is certain: If you never stop trying, you are guaranteed to succeed.

Men and Women Have Different Brains
Men and women appear to employ different brain organization to achieve the same level of general intelligence.
Brain imaging has revealed that men have more gray matter related to intellectual ability while women have more white matter.
Gray matter refers to information processing centers while white matter refers to connections between the processing centers.
Men have about 6.5 times as much general intelligence gray matter as women while women have about 10 times as much white matter, report researchers from the University of California, Irvine and the University of New Mexico.
"These findings suggest that human evolution has created two different types of brains designed for equally intelligent behavior," says researcher Richard Haier of the University of California, Irvine. "In addition, by pinpointing these gender-based intelligence areas, the study has the potential to aid research on dementia and other cognitive-impairment diseases in the brain."

10 Ways Holographic Creation is More Powerful Than Visualization

Creating reality in the moment is holographic creation. You can also call it manifesting in holographic time. You create what you want on a spiritual level (quantum level), and then it grows until it becomes crystallized into physical reality.
All these ten comparisons between holographic creation and visualization are based in the fact that there is no such thing as time. As Robert Anthony said in the quote at the start of this
chapter, “The only moment is now”.
Note – Some people who are skilled at visualization are actually doing holographic creation without knowing it. Visualization (seeing detailed images) is part of holographic creation. This

So when I speak of visualization, I’m talking about the limited version of visualization as traditionally taught. Visualization is very powerful for some people precisely because they understand the deeper laws of holographic creation! Now you have these keys to manifestation also!

Can You Be Hypnotized and Robbed?

He was striking, with dark eyes, a long black ponytail and a stylish suit. He had a large, cheap ring that Olga couldn't stop looking at as he waved his hand repeatedly in front of her face.
"He was talking gibberish," she recalled. That he had left his wallet in a taxi. That he was supposed to meet someone at Sheremetyevo Airport. That he couldn't remember where he lived.
Olga offered him the 7,000 — about $250 — in her purse for a taxi, but he said it wouldn't be enough. She found herself leading the man up to her apartment. There, she opened her safe and gave him $500. "Can I have more?" he asked. "Can I have the 7,000 rubles in your purse?" Without replying, Olga emptied her wallet into his hands.
As they rode back down the elevator, Olga knew the man was a thief. She knew she should demand her money back before it was too late. But she couldn't open her mouth. "I was in a trance," she said later.
Almost immediately after he left, Olga broke into hysterical sobs and phoned a friend, who persuaded her to go to the police. There, detectives nodded knowingly. "Gypsy hypnosis," they said.
Across Moscow, a chestnut as old as crystal balls and gypsy curses makes regular appearances on the crime logs — hundreds of victims a year who say they were seduced out of their money in seemingly chance encounters with strangers. Many claim they were hypnotized by intense stares, mesmerizing babble and warnings of curses on their loved ones.
